It's not terrible in terms of p2w, but the real crux of the game is the boss fights. The amount of shit that you end up doing between boss fights is incredibly tedious and if you end up using money to bypass the grind then you're left with very little content due to how much of the core game is pure padding. If the grind was closer to monster hunter, where it was slow but enjoyable because you were essentially always doing boss fights, then It might be a different story.

It's a pity that such a fun combat system was intentionally gated off out of sheer greed.

Don't, they completely ruined it with the last update. Game is now piss easy with tonnes of quests that shower your with experience and shit to get you to the endgame faster, outside of the top 10% of the progression (absolute endgame) there's absolutely nothing to do. They dumbed it down so much that bosses last about 5-10 seconds at best.

Rise update basically killed the game.
