Incidentally, it might be worth mentioning that Mitsuda worked on all the games mentioned thus far (albeit specifically episode I as far as Xenosaga is concerned).

Video games need to be "deep" and realistic. Games that give you hope don't make money so songs that give you that feeling are considered cost prohibitive in this dark age of vidya.
