Problem is that Crysis was hard to run because of how technically advanced it was. These days games that are hard to run are hard to run because they're shitty rushed console ports.

Well, these days, shit's absolutely fucked, and games don't run consistently at all, compared to each other. You can have something like Mad Max or MGSV, which run almost maxed out on five year old, budget-tier hardware, flawlessly. And then you can have something like fucking NuWolfenstein, which looks like shit, barely runs on modern hardware, and the graphics settings barely make a difference in performance.

It barley runs on modern hardware and even then it's so single core based that your CPU will become a bottleneck.

I have a 780 and a 6700k OC'd and it dropped to like 35~ FPS in places.

Oh, it's also unable to run at higher than 60hz without crashing. In fact it did a ton of crashing, good luck getting it to run at all.

I actually played Crysis for the first time a few months ago. I was impressed by the faces and their animation, better than some games today, but other than that the game was kind of meh, I'd give it a 6/10, wouldn't reccomend to anyone

This. I have a GTX 680 and an I5 3770. I get 60 FPS easily on Mad Max, I get 120-200 FPS in the Battlefield 4 trial on max settings at all times, yet I get 5-20 fps on Sleeping Dogs on max settings (which is from 2012), and I barely get 60 FPS on Payday 2, a game that looks worse than HL2 which I consistently get 300 FPS on at all times.

Crysis is OK. The graphics are good but terribly optimized. The gameplay is meh, it isn't as flexible as you would see in videos, it has bad AI, low stamina (though that can be fixed with cheats and/or mods), and the bullet sponges are pretty bad also.

And I'm not seeing a whole lot of mods either.

Honestly the reason Crysis is so great is because it was never made with consoles in mind, so you have massive levels filled with enemies that aren't just a massive sandbox RNG-fest.

You can snipe dudes miles away because that's just something the game can do. Most console games, up until now, have had to fit on 360. After 10 years, they now forgot how to actually build a game around that.

I had more feels for the General you see go down in a fiery glory against a giant Ayy than any of the characters they hamfist on the shitty sequels.

Crysis was a great game.

I detest 2 and 3. The story went to shit. The entire atmosphere changed. The nano-suit itself changed to some organic-body-fusing bullshit instead of just a suit.

Crysis was a 9/10 game that only had some minor flaws like bugs, lack of gore and the alien boss fights being dissapointing.

The sequels were generic as fuck console shooters, not even a 6/10 in my book, they only thing they did better were the boss fights.
