You can try Evil Islands. It's sort of a stealth rpg game with active pause.
There are no over-designed silly armors or weapons, you can use magic, melee, ranged or mix of them all, depending on what you invest your exp into. For the first half of the game you can be a strong independent stone age man who don't need no metal n shieet except for century old shitty rusty sword gifted from a dragon; in the second half you get access to metal armors and weapons.
