I've always found that there is a large speed difference between scanning in 600dpi and 1200dpi. Considering that this is consistent with both CIS and CCD scanners, it's probably due to the scanner's internal processor rather than an issue with the sensor. The computer you're scanning to and the software you're using will also have an impact. Something worth trying is to download the TWAIN or WIA drivers from the scanner manufacturer's website and then scan directly into Photoshop or another program like Irfanview. Photoshop will generally be better at handling large image files than the scanner software.

I did use a 2050 J510 series HP deskjet as a printer for quite a few years. The only reason I replaced it was because it was so old, HP stopped making ink cartridges for it. I did use it as a scanner a few times before I bought the 3800. I think I uploaded some of the card scans I did with it, it might have only been to the IRC rather than the /a/ threads though I'll have a look through my old folders and see if I can find them. What I remember from using it, is that TWAIN drivers do exist for it and it will scan 1200dpi. The TWAIN drivers might already be installed as part of the software package. You can check this by opening Irfanview and then File > Select Scan/TWAIN Source.
600dpi will be fine for cards or anything else. While there are benefits to scanning in 1200dpi with a 16-bit RGB output, it's really overkill for current monitors. The fact that the scanner inside is a CIS is going to cause more problems than dpi. Even then it's nothing that can't be fixed in Photoshop.
PA was scanned on a deskjet model and the main problem with the PA raws wasn't the scanner used, it was the horrific quality of paper it was printed on in Ultra Jump.
The issues you will find with scanning in colour on a deskjet.

The best way to counter this to make sure that what you're scanning is flat against the platter. The lids on the deskjets do have a good weight to them for what they are (unlike the LiDE), so this shouldn't be a problem. If it is a problem, place a book on top of the lid when scanning.

Can be corrected in Photoshop by using adjustments in saturation, exposure and leveling
>lack of vibrance
There's literally a vibrance slider in Photoshop
>poor colour accuracy
Can be corrected by using RGB channel leveling and colour balancing. Issues in certain colour channels can be further adjusted by using selective colour balancing.
This issues aren't unique to $30 printer/scanners, it's just the innate quality of CIS scanners.

Judging by the pre-exodus folder contents and file creation dates these should be the deskjet scans. The black dust over the Midoriko's and Tama's cards are contaminates that are underneath the platter.

After doing some research into this there seems to be a few other reasons why the TWAIN drivers aren't appearing.
If you're using the wireless functionality, try plugging it in with a USB cable and then see if it's picked up in Photoshop or IrfanView.
Download the latest driver and software package from the HP website and reinstall it. You will need to uninstall the existing drivers first. When you initially installed the drivers, it's possible that you may not have installed the additional TWAIN and WIA drivers. Have a good look through the options.
The driver supplied by HP may not be 64-bit. This is going to cause problems if you're trying to scan in a 64-bit program. To check if this the case, open the C drive, then open the windows folder and there will be two folders twain_32 and twain_64. If you're scanner is listed in twain_32 and not twain_64, this is most likely the problem. A 32-bit driver will not work with a 64-bit program. I actually came across something very interesting while looking into this. Microsoft and Apple seem to be trying to phase out the open TWAIN standard in favour of their own driver protocols WIA and ImageKit. I'll write a post in the scanlation thread about it, as this seems that it might be a major change and a lot of graphic design professionals aren't happy about it
HP do offer an extended driver package. This should install both the TWAIN and WIA drivers

That's a thing Lostorage will never explain like many other facts about the series, but I guess that's the flavour of the franchise. From what we know Lostorage LRIGs are born from the most precious/personality defining memories of each selector. In the very first episode of Incited we saw what kind of memories created Ril and her behavior makes sense and resonates with Suzuko's memories. If I recall correctly these were the following: 1) Memories of her family, 2) Memories of her mother and 3 memories of Chinatsu.
In the other hand, we have Hana and there are a few things we know about her: a) born in a family of five b) was shocked by her little brother's dead blamed herself after knowing the truth, c) forgot about the accident, d) became a loner, e) is intelligent, 6) writes for wixoss magazines and, finally, f) frequents image boards to gather information. If anything the most important memories are related to her little brother so her childhood is a key. Also I think her sister was also an influence for her because she did not end up like Hitoe. I still don't know how to connect this to Nanashi's teasing personality though

Hanna was an important character in Conflated. She was the one driving plot progression. Perhaps it was because there were too many characters and too few episodes, she never really felt like she related to the others enough. She had good scenes with Kiyoi and Hitoe but there wasn't enough of them to really see the relationship develop with either of them.
I don't think there is anything wrong with the Lostorage character design. The character design in Selector was so clever because the LRIGs design was reflected in their selector. This was lacking in Lostorage, except maybe in Hanna. Her hair clips do resemble the head gear worn by Nanashi. My problem with the design of Lostorage was the change to a warmer palette. This was particularly jarring in Conflated as scenes set in Shinjuku/Ikebukuro kept their cooler palette. I guess the answer of if Lostorage's character design was up to the standard of Selector will never be answered unless we see Takuya Sato direct a Lostorage film.

The scanner upgrade was worth it. The CCD produces clear, distortion free scans. It's just a shame about the back light. Not for a while. Okada has been very successful in the anime industry but she still lacks her one stand out series. Looking at other major directors and writers, such as Ikuhara, Urobuchi and Anno, they have all produced one anime original that is recognised for it's production values and artistic merit, as well has making a large amount of money. Ikuhara has Utena, Urobuchi has Madoka and Anno has Evangelion. Nothing that Okada has worked on has ever reached the heights of these series. Back on 4/a/ in 2014, watching Infected for the first time, it did finally seem as though it was going to happen for her. The initial Selector series had a large budget, a long development, high production values and talented people working on it. For what ever reason, it wasn't to be. Infected sold around 6000 copies.

Not enough information to tell if it contains the cards. The image of the second tank shows that it has been scanned it's original plastic covering. It's impossible to tell if that is the book your going to get though. It might be worth emailing Mandarake to ask them. They will usually respond to questions about an item.
Other than that Suruga-ya doesn't even have the first tank in stock and the second tank they do have is missing the card. The three auctions on yahoo are listed as B, which means no cards. Depending on if you want the actual tanks themselves or just the cards, it might be better to look for the cards separately. For cards check surugaya, c-labo, yahoo auctions and there's another site that I forget.
