Also it helps to go through the campaigns. Tons of characters and levels to unlock in the single player that are still good even with all the new content added. Set it to casual if you don't want to suffer too much and once you unlock Yuuki beating the rest of the campaigns is simple. I suggest holding control when playing single player to speed through the turns.

To unlock all non dlc characters:

(Suguri, QP, Kai, Marc) are all available at the beginning - once you choose one and finish the campaign with that character the other three unlock in the shop.

(Hime, Mariepoppo, Peat, Fernet, Yuuki, Aru) can all be unlocked and purchased from the shop by going through each campaign on stages 2 through 4. Depending on which campaign you started with you might get these in any order

Clearing stage 5 with any character unlocks Sora.

Beating all campaigns and extra missions will unlock Tomomo Hell wherein you fight 3 copies of the final boss Tomomo. Beat that and you unlock Tomomo who will help with clearing expert difficulty but is softened for online play. Still good though.

Enemy characters are all unlocked in the shop via increasing your level in multiplayer - this includes Chicken, Seagull, Roboball and the bosses: Store Manager, Shifu Robot, and Flying Castle.

All DLC characters are available from the get go. There are also 4 characters you can unlock via purchasing other games made by the dev - Aru Scramble, Military Sora, Mixedpoppo, and QP Dangerous

Use Marc for Tomomo Hell. Battlefield, miracle, and charity events are all in rotation so it's easy to get your hyper. +1 defense +1 attack allows her to survive Tomomo and counter in addition to farming wins. Don't bother going stars on this map. Just get your hyper and fire rockets any time a Tomomo's HP gets low. I got it on first try but it was close so be careful and keep trying.

/tg/ is doing something similar using our own games, we're building the top 25 boards thematic Commander Decks, then streaming the matches of AI-bots using those decks.

Any other boards are more than welcome to join, if you contribute your own deck.

For /u/ I recommend either a Black/Red Burn/Grave deck featuring all the Lilliana and Chandra Planeswalkers, since those two are nearly canon, and most widely accepted by the mtg community.

Either that, or find the board's ultimate OTP and represent them through female Partner Commanders.

Well, I may have found something for you folks, in case you're still interested…

This is Sigarda, host of herons. She's got a theme centered around Birth and Purity, and she wields a Giant Scythe.(closest I could find to a Naginata) Oh, and she's an Angel, and she has a quote about devotion on her.

She's most commonly used in a deck archetype called Voltron, where you attach as many cards that boost her attack and give her other, more powerful abilities to do direct damage to your opponent. O-Naginata here is a perfect card to use with her.

So… If you're looking to build a Fujino Shizuru MTG deck, this is probably the card you'd want to use, at least as far as her character is concerned.

Embric of Wulfhammer is made by Saint Bomber, who frequents 4/u/ from time to time. You play as the Duchess who's on her way to marry Embric but when she arrives at the castle, he's currently missing. The story goes several different ways, depending on who you go after.

You can get costumes randomly from playing singleplayer or doing the campaigns. Less candies when you do get them but it's a reliable method to quickly gather candies and occasionally roll a halloween costume during the event. You can even roll a 50 candy costume.

Peat is possibly the strongest character in OJ. All around good stats, strong ez to use hyper, good revive roll. The 3 hp is deceptive thanks to his other stats being good

Because of the high defense and evade he tends to die less than other characters with supposedly better stats than him. And even if you kill him - flip a coin and he will get back up immediately and chase you down and kill you again. This means he can be played very aggressively and gather wins/stars and cards more than other characters who have to wait longer to revive and have worse stats in the game.

Been thinking that there is something of a displayed HP stat and what the actual HP stat is based on how much defense/evasion/hp the character has and what enemy they are attacking. Kiriko, Poppo, and Flying Castle tend to always go down in 2-3 hits due to the low defense despite having between 7 and 8 HP. The gimmicks on both Flying Castle and Kiriko are also so harsh they might as well be joke characters since the negatives drastically outweight the high stat total. Compare this with Fernet, Kyoko, and Kyousuke and all of them tend to take 5-6 hits to kill. Kyousuke can get lucky and go beyond 5 hits thanks to his neutral evade roll.

Guess I'd say high HP is worthless if you don't have the evade or defense to to make use of it.

It's a little complicated at first due to the events and all the different characters but it gets way simpler as you play more.

Collect stars or wins and land on a home. If you get killed in battle the opponent takes half your stars (unless you are playing certain characters and then it's reduced to only 1/4th stars of your stars). If you kill an enemy you gain two wins - the advantage to wins is you can't lose them. The disadvantage for wins is depending on map, characters selected, luck it might not be possible to get wins. If you already have the wins req for your current objective (called your norma) or you are absolutely 100% certain you can get the necessary wins in a short time (like you only need 1 win and there are tons of enemy panels you can land on to gain that 1 win then go ahead) then you can pick wins - otherwise 9/10 times go stars since its usually quicker and more reliable since you can still gain stars even when dead or if you kill a person with a ton of stars to catch back up to gain your normas and win the game.

You can land on any home to complete a norma objective and regardless of if you have completed your objective or not you will regain 1 HP. If you have completed your norma objective you can choose your next norma which will be stars unless you have the wins or are certain you can get wins before you next land on a home. When moving past your own home you have the choice of landing on it. Otherwise you can attack someone on their own home to land on that space and complete a norma objective.

The battle spaces cause you to fight either a seagull, a roboball, or a chicken. Seagull is the one to fear if you don't kill it in one hit since even though it's the least durable of the three it's attack stat is the highest. Roboball tends to take the longest to kill since it has a high defense stat and that can allow it to weather multiple battles. Chicken has high evade so as long as you roll low you won't hit it but if you roll high you are very likely to kill it in one round like the seagull. Even if you kill these creatures they will still appear again if you land on a battle space. Their HP stats reset after each 1 dies back to 3 hp. They also grant stars and a single win on death. Note - they can carry stars they gain from killing other players. So sometimes you can kill one of these and get like 100 stars in the lategame and win a match.

When anyone reaches norma 4 or uses the card Oh My Friend - a boss will be summoned. All normal battle spaces will become boss spaces. The bosses all have vastly better stats (all have high attack rolls and are likely to kill in one hit regardless of HP unless you have high defense) and somewhat fixed defense and attack rolls. All of their evades are negative so they can't dodge. Try to avoid fighting the boss but you definitely want to try killing the boss. 3 wins when you kill any boss and you get all the stars that characters have lost to the boss which tends to be a huge sum late in the game.

Every character has their own hyper which they can draw from the deck. Hypers tend to be very powerful cards that can allow you to secure your advantage or turn things around mid match. Different cards have their own requirements to be used like stars or a specific norma level. There are a couple specific types of including trap cards (places a trap on the space you are standing), event (affects everyone on the battlefield or affects the map itself), battle cards (can be used in battle obviously), gift cards (can be randomly given to people and can give an advantage or disadvantage) etc.

I think that's about everything there is to know.

Chase with a high evade, high attack character like Suguri, Sora, Hime. Poppo's lack of defense and evade means her HP whilst high can be bought down quickly - similar to Kiriko you should consider her to be a pinata of sorts - at some point she will die and you will get her stars. Low attack means she can be bullied by any high evade character.

The thing about all the tank characters - like Fernet and Kyoko - they have a hard time getting back stars they lose on death due to -1 atk. Poppo falls in with that. If she can't escape via hyper she dies and loses all of her stars and likely the game too unless she can drag it out to get the stars back or gets lucky and can assassinate someone for their stars.

Kyousuke is the one defense character that can get his stars back reliably other than Marc and possibly QP Dangerous (her stats are draw dependent) - via his hyper which trades his atk and defense stats.

There are other defense characters but Fernet, Kyoko, and Kyousuke are considered the core defense characters. Fernet is the raw tankiest via 2 defense + 6 hp - she has a garbage hyper tho that she mostly doesn't want to use. Kyoko has the eziest time denying herself via use of hyper at low hp and then deliberately landing on a trap, drop, or enemy panel - in addition to highest raw defense of 3. Kyousuke has both a neutral evade (Fernet has -2 evade and Kyoko can't evade - so Kyoko always takes 1 damage minimum in battle and Fernet can occasionally roll to evade a 1) and the ability to get his stars back via hyper. All three are good - ez way to take them down is either high evade characters or a Sealed Guardian/Forced revivial use to bring their HP down to 1 and kill them in one shot.

A few other hybrid defense characters:

Nanako has +2 defense, +1 evade but only 3 HP (Kyousuke and Kyoko above have 5 HP minimum and Fernet has 6 HP just for comparison) but a +4 revive to compensate. Her Hyper sounds better than it is due to the random stat allocation. +7 points randomly distributed to all stats sounds great but there is no predictability into what stat it will go and often when you need it one stat 5 points will be alocated to another. All in all you'd think she'd be sturdier than Peat but the 0 atk hurts her in addition to unreliable hyper (his hyper is incredibly reliable) means he tends to live longer/scare people from attacking him at high health whilst people tend to just chase and bully her into submission.

Sham possibly as well but she suffers from having neutral atk and whilst her hyper can lower everyone's rolls down to 1 for a turn - it doesn't mean you will not roll a 1. One reason to use the hyper when they are 1 space away from a boss so they fight the boss who has fixed rolls and will likely roll a 6 to atk and kill the target in one hit.

Syura has average stats with a 4 revive roll and +1 defense. She can get her stars back via dropping to 1 HP and gaining +1 atk and +1 evade. Her hyper gives her HP depending on how little HP she has so it works similarly to Peats hyper but is less useful due to the 1 HP requirement for it to reach full power (whilst his just requires having a high number of cards in his hand - a much easier feat to pull off).

Nath is dependent on getting battle cards to get her +2 atk and +2 defense - absolutely deadly if you can get it but getting it is a problem and a bigger one than for QP dangerous. Also keeping it is an issue due to the -2 evade. Regeneration would be highly useful for Nath along with Charity. Nath is an evasion character starting out too with negative defense and attack.

Peat and Sherry both have great stats including defense (+1 in everything) and I think Peat is the better of the two despite the one of the lowest HP stats in the game just because Sherry's perk of always attacking second means they can always use +atk battle cards against you and possibly roll a 6 before you even move potentially killing you in one hit if you don't roll a good defense. Peat recovers from death more easily and has a better hyper with none of that always attack second garbage - if anything you can play more aggressively with him than any character in the game.

I would play too but I played too much AOS2 when it came out in Japanese, and so I burned out 6 years ago. (The translator of Suguri had an IRC where we would arrange to play it for hours back before steam made multiplayer easier.) I wsh Daidai would make another game and show progress on Alicia Rune. Even though Hono is not a college student anymore everyone on Steam loves his games. Seems like Hono's old programmer and DJ don't support him as much as they used to, and he mostly had to do 200 percent Orange juice by himself.

He's a tank (more like Marc than the 2 defense tanks but with a focus on countering instead of just attacking) that gains attack during battle depending on how much HP he has lost. Final Battle and Little War are speculation on my part. The longer the fight goes on with his high defense he can slowly build up attack from lost during either of those to counter the enemy harshly. Use Big Magnum to assassinate players when you attack them since he technically gains 3 attack when using the card. If the enemy rolls a 4 and you have 5 hp you can deliberately let them hit you for full damage to get +4 ATK on the counter. Just be aware that his evasion is godawful at -3 although that can be changed to +3 with RAF at the cost of -1 defense. Hyper is eh but if the enemy dies to the pirates he summons he gets the stars instead of the pirates - also if he kills the pirates by landing on them and kills them he can get 2 wins instead of 1.

Tsih Deck Ideas: Unlucky Charm, Lost Child, Windy Enchantment, Price of Power, 3 Rainbow Colored Circles, Final Battle, Little War

Very similar to Suguri but gains +2 ATK and becomes a bully with any gift card. Thus we shove 1 of every gift card in the game into the deck. Unlucky Charm and Price of Power are the best ones since you have to use them to lose them and can gain Normas to win the game still at the price of your stars but Lost Child and Windy Enchantment could be good for getting that sweet 4 HP +2 ATK +2 EVA combo going and circling the map killing everything. Play her like you would any other Suguri high evade character until you get a gift card - don't bother with attack boosters in your deck cause you don't want to give them to others since you are an evasion character. Good safe hyper too that can protect her long enough to win the game or setup for an assassination. She is gift card dependent so try to get a gift card as early as possible so you can go around bullying everyone - I find Unlucky Charm tends to get passed around a lot in every game so there is a good chance you will get this card at least some point into the game even if it does burn through your stars.

Fixed some errors. Play him like you would Marc with an extra point of hp. Don't be too aggressive since his offense is 0 before he has taken damage but he can counter pretty well so people are gonna be afraid to attack you. The 5 HP, 0 ATK, 1 DEF, -3 EVA makes him the tankiest character right now that doesn't suffer from a negative attack stat meaning he is pretty safe to play and with his counter focus he can ward off some of the more pesky character high evade characters if his HP is high enough before hand. Extend is extremely necessary tho since if he dies he has a revive roll of 6. At the very least even if he does die he can get his stars back easily with a single Big Magnum so he has comeback potential.

Phantom Breaker is a pretty fun - mahou shoujo brawler. I'd recommend if anyone else has it to at least go through single player on a single character before going online with that one - so you can do more damage (and take more) to the online enemies - there is a level up mechanic and it does effect attack damage.

Somebody posted this on /v/ and I thought it was a good guide:

Meta-analysis and barebones guide.

Since all cards are predetermined and there are no character hypers, characters are literally just their stats and passives. Which makes a few characters far better than others.

Attackers:

MSora

Shifu

+2 attacker or Castle

+1 attacker

Several characters(mainly +2 attack) are given 8 recovery. As in they have to roll a 6 for three turns before the revive roll gets easier. Since it's a loss when everybody is dead at once, this is a major downside. The extra attack is a significant contribution considering it means +1 damage per battle, but it's a tradeoff. If your defenders are good you might never die.

Defense:

Sugu2

Shifu

Sherry

Tequila

As a defender you attack second against John. For that reason Sherry's stats are without negative. Tequila has the potential to bite back as well. However Sugu2 and Shifu are the best users of protect due to regeneration. They all have +1 attack so they can also heckle John if they find the opportunity and have the HP.

Support:

The tanks.

There's not much to support besides being alive when everybody else is dead. Most reliant on reaching Norma 5 as their hyper is the most important once things get going. There are nearly unsurvivable setups John can inflict such as Sealed Guardian or Delta Field which will guarantee everyone's deaths. A support can prevent total loss by reviving a person who died and is before them turnwise. Walkover revival costs are recovery times 5. Somebody like MSora gets revived for free while a Castle that just died is 45 stars.

Also choose a good map. Some are ass while some are great. Treasure Island Night has worked well for me, but you may have your own preference. The one tile type John never overwrites is warps so there may be some consideration for the warp heavy maps.

Overall, it is better to be aggressive early rather than later. John's HP pool requires whittling when he still hits for only +1 and 2. Surviving becomes near impossible later on.

Attackers:

Tomomo is the best of the +2 Attackers since you play as her single player form with the best stats in the game and she gets 7 for her revival roll in comparison to other +2 attack characters reviving for more than her (8 and 9 revive rolls) with worse stats and no bonus stars or cards on Store Manager.

Peat is probably the best of the regular +1 attackers followed by Suguri 2 then Suguri due to revive rolls. Military Sora and Shifu Robot are still best attackers in the game tho due to auto revive meaning they are always available to attack the boss.

Flying Castle is probably OK actually due to Defense characters being a thing but if he dies it will be a problem due to a 9 revive roll.

Defense:

Got nothing to add here. Maybe Tomomo could be decent at this along with Flying Castle due to high HP stats and good attack stats to begin with. Would allow more people to aggressively attack the boss whenever possible.

Tequila would be the worst of the group listed due to his 9 revive roll.

Support:

Kyousuke is best due to 2 defend 0 evade 4 revive roll but if you don't have him or Kyoko go for Fernet for being the tankiest in the base game with that 6 HP 2 Defense combo.

I agree with rushing and taking down the boss early. Longer the match goes on eventually the boss will begin to use shit like Sealed Guardian and Delta Field to try to kill everyone in one turn unless a support revives someone who fought the boss before them.

Throw Nanako on for an attacker role along with Sham. 3 Revive on Nanako means she can stick around and really pound on the boss. Sham has 4 revive as well. Both of them start with 0 attack but at Norma 4 all attackers gain +2 ATK so they get the best of all worlds in terms of ATK, DEF, and EVA.

Low revive rolls are really important in this mode.

Alright, because no one else has talked about it, here's the details of the new event.

On your hud there's now four slots for one type of candy and every few turns you'll get a new random candy (green bag, candy corn, pink hard candy, and orange candy) most likely you'll get one that doesn't fit in your slots.

When you reach a player or vice versa the approaching player will pick a candy to ask for from the other player. if the giving player refuses to give away their candy then he'll get a debuff which can either be -2 HP, sleep, or frost walk.

After you get at least 1 of the candy type that you need for the game, return home to store them. They'll be added to your candy stash for event points and you'll get stars in exchange for them too.

I have no idea what you get after getting enough event points.

I've decided to stop hosting 100% OJ games for the time being.

The reason why is because the two main players we've been getting in these games don't even use this board and have questionable behavior. One of them is mainly a r/a/dio poster who pretends to be a loli and flirts with everyone he meets in these games, the other is a 4chan /jp/ fumo poster and apparently a 40 year old man who only enables the other player's cancerous behavior.

I wouldn't have mind just having 2 people be the main players in these games, but the fact that they act like a bunch of faggots and don't even use this board has gotten to me. I shouldn't have tolerated him flirting with other users in the first place.

I'll resume hosting the games when we get at least 3 other active 8/u/ players.

Right now all of the other actual 8/u/ posters who used to play this game are either tired of it, or is busy irl. So perhaps we can take this time to find something else to play.

One of the posters in the irc is suggesting Quake 3.

Holy shit they actually buffed some of the characters that needed buffing:

I like that Yuki's hyper was reworked but her inability to get wins from fights is a major weakness. Can't even make an exception for boss kills which I think is bullshit. Makes it so the get wins from traps is hard for her. Might as well just say she can only win via stars with her setup.

Saki might need a slightly buffed hyper as well. 3 hp initial damage Big Bang Bell would be scary for a number of characters.

I was thinking traps should be buffed in general. Maybe make it so if you kill someone via a trap you can get a win or two from it depending on card used. Or the one card that does 1 HP of damage to any unit you can steal a win off it. Or Cloud of Seagulls. More options for getting wins would go a long way towards buffing some characters who can't get wins normally and stars are their only option.

There's little time until Christmas, and the children want a snow castle… a big one! Only you can help make it happen!

Witness the exciting new event storyline with story by Hono and ending illustration by artist Mo! Can Nico and Arthur combine their powers with the two Santas to save the children's Christmas?

Work together with all players to reach global daily goals and unlock rewards until December 25, when the finale of the story unlocks!

The event runs until January 20, 2019, 10:00 PST. It features a new currency which can be used to redeem rewards in the Shop. Note: the currency is only valid during this event, and will be removed afterwards.

In other major news, we're introducing a new mechanic to the game:

The Arcade!

Nico and Arthur await your visit in the new Arcade section of Shop! You can currently be rewarded up to 18 arcade tokens every 3 days (3 from 1 game) from playing online, and use 3 tokens on the Pet Catcher machine for a chance to win 1 of three rarity pets. In addition, players will receive a weekly log-in bonus of 6 arcade tokens.

Drop rates:

80% Common item

12% Uncommon pet

6% Rare pet

2% Super Rare pet

The common item drop currently gives you a stack of new Fireworks items, which lets you launch a colorful firework during a match!

The Pet Exchange machine can be used to exchange 2 of the same pet for a random alternative color version of that pet.

All the pets from the Pet Catcher are stored in the Steam Inventory, and can be traded on the Steam marketplace.
