Here's a question, if a geriatric woman whose supposed to be a depressed drunkard can easily dispatch terminators why did the whatever resistance send back a very dependent soldier back in time who can only fight in short bursts before needing to rest and take enhancements?
If Skynet's creation is stopped by the events from Terminator 2 then who the fuck was sending the terminators back in time in the first place, including the one who killed John?
Also why is it that every new entry in a classic horror/slasher franchise has to go "fuck the old threat, they're old and lame now we've got the SUPER CHARGED CGI 1000 WHICH IS THE OLD THREAT BUT BETTER AND FLASHIER AND COOLER™"? Aliens did it with like the super tank alien, The Predator with the bigger predator
I think the formula of Terminator is played out and they should attempt different timeperiods or plots. For example following how Skynet wormed its way through society until it could almost wipe humanity out. Maybe have it like a political thriller where Skynet is manipulating governments and manufacturing dissent and events to allow it to gain more power, culminating in the nuclear detonations and the only people who were aware of it or noticed it did so too late or were powerless to stop it. Or maybe Skynet sends a last ditch effort terminator to assassinate whomever, but since the resistance has the upper hand they end up sending an entire team of people to defend the target, and if you're going with the "terminators are apparently paper thin" angle then just have the terminator be more of a sneaky, deceptive unseen terror that, for example, turns the police or military against the defending team and the target or if it's a T-1000 shape shifter begins sowing doubt and paranoia between the defending team or just anything that isn't T1/T2 but with much weaker characters and actors and no substance besides flashy action which I believe to be worse than T2's. Especially since in both Gensys and Dark Fate the souped up terminator is a complete joke who gets fucked up every time they reach the protagonists.
I kind of feel bad for Mackenzie Davis. Her appearence is very unflattering and I can't really tell if she bothered to work out for the purpose of bulk but she was just a standard generic character with no glaring faults about the execution besides her appearence and no really standout qualities either. I thought Sara Conor was Luke Skywalker'd in this movie and Hamilton really didn't give a shit although it got a rise out of me seeing her deaged at the start of the movie, if you catch my drift and Arnie's just phoning it in and I can't even remember who the actor and actress for the terminator and the new resistance leader were or if they did a passable job.
Grace has some nice backstory though, even if it's barely and briefly visible.

Judgement day happens eventually regardless of what happens. The events of 1 never stopped judgement day, as Cyberdyne end up getting future tech(a terminator hand), which expedites the whole process. The whole crisis only gets solved when Skynet wastes enough of its resources trying to change the past, that humanity is able to beat it in the future.

80s movies used real actual stunts and stuntmen who put themselves in actual danger on actual sets. That made the realism 1000x more effective.
Dark Fate used so much CGI you may as well have been watching a cartoon. Deep down inside there's a part of you that can never accept it as filmed movie, no matter how realistic it looks.

The problem, I find with these CG-heavy action scenes is that the sense of damage is completely out of whack. I found it infintely more intense seeing the relatively small scale hospital fight and escape from the T-1000 in T2 than, for example that entire hospital scene or the helicopter chase in Gensys. When everyone gets exploded a gazillion times and gets back up and arny uses himself as a titanium projectile jumping from a helicopter into another helicopter I stop thinking "wow this is so cool and intense and these guys know how to fight" and I start thinking "wow how much bullshit can these characters pull off before their plot armor wears off and they're allowed to die?"
