What are some lightweight clean desktop apps withtout bloat that don't pull in over a hundred packages? Terminal applications are nice and tiling window managers are nice too but on the desktop i sometimes like having a more mouse centric workflow.

I recently installed xfe for file management and it's very nice, I think it only has some python dependency. It has everything I need and also a very nice two-panel view.

Recommend anything, window managers, file browsers, web browsers, image viewers, video players, music players, email clients, image editors, office applcations etc.

Why would install this shit in the first place? Why would you not use Gentoo if you don't want shit dependencies coming automagically?

TDE unironically. It's a KDE 3.5 fork that has all the bells and whistles, and it only uses about 250MB of RAM. It doesn't require any ricing or heavy customization. 99% of it just works out of the box.

What I really like about TDE is that on recent Plasma versions, Gnome 3, MATE, XFCE, and other desktop environments and window managers I was relying heavily on the terminal to get stuff done because the GUI applications were too complex or didn't offer enough functionality. I can use the command line well enough but having a well rounded GUI makes stuff easier. Q4OS with TDE has a nice default setup that allows me to easily navigate my system with a few buttons, and using the terminal has become secondary. It's like using Windows but with a Linux base system that's actually useful.
