If it has a good team you probably have nothing to contribute unless you're a very good developer. And if you were you wouldn't be asking. Best you can do is to find a very obscure, inactive project with struggling dev.

Testing is a huge help to developers. Finding and reporting bugs, and then applying/testing the newest builds for fixes is always sorely needed. It also gets you talking with the core team and building credibility.

Honestly? Assume all projects are chronically understaffed and underfunded. You probably use several programs right now that could use some additional help. Check out their bug boards and discussion channels.
