It's just a file on the computer. If it's just posted or used by someone else, the websites that are using said cookies get junk, non-useful, unreliable information, correct?

Here is how to use cookies subliminally:

You have a computer, your spouse has a computer. You have a birthday coming up and really want a Fender Stratocaster guitar (for example). Copy their Cookies folder content; this basically is a list of sites he/she frequents. Empty the folder. Empty your own Cookies folder on your machine and then visit those sites and make a pile of searches for "Fender Stratocaster guitar". Replace their cookies with these new ones and, 'voila', all of the advertising and suggested items they see will be based on what you just searched for.
