Microsoft's github is shit. It looks like microsoft trying to make bank DRM'ing foss projects,

and block 'bad goy' search terms.

I never used github other then to occasionally git clone source code. Was it always this shit?

the top url looks like facebook's, and now you buy "Apps"(software) at the github "marketplace"(DRM).

>It's not like anyone here is smart enough to contribute to projects like Linux.

Why yes indeed Mr. LARPer, the vast, vast majority of people are in fact, not programmers. And they shouldn't have to be. That's why Windows/OSX/Android wins over GNU. People shouldn't have to be programmers if they don't want to and the average freetards disingenuous attitude for people who can't just "fork the source code yourself dood lol!" is why its not going anywhere. A good balance is an OS that gives you the tools to build applications by default, but also should not expect the average user to be a programmer themselves for it to just fucking work. That's why BASIC was such a good default user interface for home computers in the years before the GUI took off. Because it struck that exact balance

Of course, good that you know as well. Do you have an answer to my question? I have installed and set up both Gitlab and Gogs/Gitea, I've also used both, hence my question. Why Gitlab? In my opinion Gitlab is bloat, terrible UI, complex to manage and setup. Gogs/Gitea is like, run file, instant success. Nice and fast. Easy for users. Everyone could have their own Github clone in 10 minutes including buying a VPS. Gitlab.. not so much.
