How would I bypass a cheap ($200 or so) fingerprinting machine used to check employees' hours worked?

My company just got told to start using it from overseas headquarters and my managers abhor it. Many thanks to someone that can offer a solution.

I'm guessing something like using hot glue to take a mold of the fingertip wouldn't work.

Does it need to be subtle (eg. can you tamper with the machine in an obvious way or can you wear some type of glove)?

Will it be checked up?

What are your restrictions.

Quit &/or tell them you value privacy and refuse. Honestly you probably don’t want to work for a company like this in the first place.

So long as there are no telltale signs anything is a go

You're right, but gotta put food on the table somehow

I don't know how much fingerprint scanning technology has progressed but making a Super Glue clone of your finger (just by letting it dry and peeling it off) can be effective on simple readers. More complicated ones check for more than just features, and may require conductivity or heat to work. Hard to say without you providing an exact model so we can see the features.

Harder problem is probably how you will fake it. If you're just signing in or out, someone will need to do it. Either you and someone else will need to take turns signing both of you out or you're going to have to drive back to work anyways.

Video related. Shows you can fake older, cheaper scanners. They waste time doing it by stealing the fingerprint. If you can make your own mold then you don't need to bother with all the extra steps.

We're not trying to completely skip work, just sign someone in when they're like 10 minutes late.

Guess I'll give photocopying my finger a go tomorrow, thanks.

Look Pajeet, if you just did the work they paid you for they wouldn't need to do this.

Also, when you say 'bypass' what the fuck are you attempting here? To log on to the machine without using it or to rig it so it registers your thumb print at specified times?

I'll assume these scanners are cheap USB crap some corp idiot thought was a good idea. What you need to do is put a device between the scanner and the port, record the data sent, then the device will send the data (with possible modifications if it sends time data) to the port at predetermined times. Should be achievable with a Pi and some basic scripting and config.

Are you the same person who made a thread like a month ago about having a fingerprint scanner being implemented at you work or something? This thread seems familiar.

Nope. How did it go for the other guy?

 No.916572

Well he said he was going to quit his job if they did get one in which he was required to have his fingerprints taken. He hasn't said anything else in the thread since.

 No.916573

Cut off your finger and let it heal. Your useless finger is now a key.

quit and find a job where they care about your output instead of your physical presence

Scanner with really high DPI

Print out scanned fingerprint (high DPI too)

make a silicon mold out of print

I think Chaos Computer Club did something like that on iPhone finger scanner

> silicon mold out of print

What

 No.918671

Tried marking my fingerprint on paper by putting ink on it.

The machine didnt even return an error, it didnt bother reading it.
