Some here will oppose it because of DRM and others will dismiss supporting the recording industry as giving money to Jews.

If you must use it, why not just limit your time to a single month, find the music you like and then legally purchase it from the bands you like directly. Then you can play it any time you want, without the the songs magically disappearing when you fail to pay the ransom money.

While I understand the problems coming from using DRM, I think there is no way that a system like spotify could work without that and still make money.

As for the money, I think that it's the cheapest legal way to listen to lots of different music, for the price of a single CD I have access to a really big library of songs.

Only thing that bothers me is that some songs get removed from the library and you lose access to them, it's still something that happens rarely, so it doesn't bother me much.

If I see it happening more, I will just switch to a similar service

I would buy music from smaller bands, but rarely I listen to entire CDs or discographies, so I still prefer listening to many different tracks insted of an entire CD from the same band.

It's not perfect, but it does something I like, so I support it

>While I understand the problems coming from using DRM, I think there is no way that a system like spotify could work without that and still make money

Radios have existed for ages. And they still manage to make money.

Not to mention that Spotify technically doesn't make money. The record labels charge them ridiculous fees and sometimes Spotify doesn't even make a profit.

>Filings show that Spotify, based in Sweden and the U.K., generated revenue of $2.12 billion last year, up about 80 percent from the $1.18 billion it brought in the prior year (...). Losses, meanwhile, hit $188.7 million --- but that number was only up 6.7 percent from the previous year's total of $176.9 million.

Look for human made selection if you want quality.

 No.856961

>>856941

That's because the algorithms rely purely on what other people like. The algorithm has no fucking method by which it can listen to two songs and decide "yeah these are similar". The only thing it knows is x-number people liked y-song z-times, and you have a-matching likes with b-number people who liked y-song but you haven't played y-song before so here you go. Literally

>why no one listens to this underground band that has three views on youtube? It must be THE NORMIES

I often found bands that no friend of mine knew and liked their songs

I agree that human picked suggestions are better (maybe not always), but with spotify I can just press one button and have music I enjoy, without having to wait for other suggestions and then having to find them on the web

 No.856976>>856986

>>856968

>why no one listens to this underground band that has three views on youtube? It must be THE NORMIES

Actually that's EXACTLY what automated machine learning is supposed to fucking do. Go out and automatically listen to every fucking song, EVERY SINGLE ONE, even the ones nobody has ever listened to, so that it can help people find new shit that they might like, because no living breathing human being can possibly listen to everything 24/7 -- but machines can.

In an ideal world anyways, where "machine learning" means more than Pajeet python scripts that do nothing but scale textbook examples of book ratings on Amazon and apply it to literally everything. In the real world "machine learning" is just a buzzword.

 No.861537>>861570

The proper way is to at least put some effort into learning on your own, while minimizing the amount of times you need to annoy someone. Specifically, annoying questions are those that could have been answered with a little bit of reading. You see, the purpose of writing manuals, guides and books is so the others can learn without the author having to repeat himself for each interested person.

The inquirer should also make sure he's putting beginner questions in the appropriate place. It wouldn't be right for me to ask speakers at a quantum physics symposium to explain Newton's law of motion.
