I see they changed their business model. They used to have a deal with a company where DTube would pay for hosting on their service for a week and then you'd have to pay yourself with the memecoins you got from viewership. That was such a hacky solution that I'm not surprised they gave up on it, but this will not work at all if the incentive is to leave comments and not to host videos.

There is in the sense that the reason people use youtube beyond the catch-22 is the ability to earn money (via ads) by doing so. Basically if a platform want to be a viable alternative, it needs a way to monetize the video (and less ads is always good).

I signed up months ago. They require multiple confirmations to make an account, after surrendering your cellphone number registers must wait 4-5 days for the botnet setup to complete.
