I have some samsung monitors, they arent as bad as your colleague's, but those capacitive buttons are fucking awful. Who the fuck thought that was a good idea, that and the bright as blue accent light on the pointless clear plastic chin bezel. All this useless design bullshit that just makes the monitor more annoying to own. And yes, they're energy star, and no they don't turn off. I should probably sell them to some poor sap, and buy nicer monitors.

Let's not forget that these shitty monitors are on the market for less time than feature phones pre-iphone and unsearchable model numbers like SZ22WLGBTQIASDF (sometimes trimming off the last 3-20 chars produces a "family") if the model is even on the manufacturers site anymore.

These "designers" like to tack on "cutting-edge features" to be "unique" so that when generic mum & dad go into the shop think that capacitive controls and blue LEDs are cool only to regret later when the control strip doesn't work and their retinas have melted.
