I can't go to college rn since I'm making 14 an hour at this factory job...

I want to study for certificates and practice before I quit it and go back to school..

CompTIA a plus 901 and 902...is this a good goal to even get a basic it job?

Honestly I'd just take some courses online. If you've got the time you could swing it for a lot less

>he thinks certs mean anything

certs are invented by jews to part retards with their money

The person who makes the hiring decision might hire you based on certs, but only if you're up against someone else who has similar qualifications sans certs.

Make of that what you will.

Certs can get you in the door. A plus is only good for basic helpdesk though.

If you can show hirer person that you can do basic helpdesk tasks, good chance they may hire you even w.o. certs.

Ex.

How to use a ticketing system.

Being good at describing how you solved something.

Checking basic shit first [is it plugged in]

Every basic windows task.

Every basic active directory task.

Certs also help give you a little edge if you have no experience. Shows you actually learn stuff on your own.

Some worksites like MSPs will usually require you to get or keep up with some certs if you are hired.

Community college courses are like $100 a class. You can at least get an associates degree, assuming you can do work and class.

A variety of certs will help increase your odds of getting a job. It's also important to have a Git and show that you contribute to things and make stuff on your own.

Sure, but you should consider some other field. There's a couple of billion budding pajeets and asians entering the future you've chosen to undercut you.

Certs give you an edge, dont do A+ unless you want to just learn the material to learn the material.

If you've ever built a system from scratch you should have more than enough knowledge to handle a help desk job, although the anon that posted about knowing ticket systems and SLAs is right...

I would advise you to pickup something like ccent/ccna and maybe a linux cert like rhcsa or w/e then go to AWS. Networking is nice but the companies that pay good salary for low levels of work are moving to the cloud and because most people know dick-all about it, its a great place to start so you can bs with the best of them.

or you could get into CYBAR SEKURIDY and be a securitard-amazing pay and have the ability to tell the 'nix admins what to do even though you don't know how to cut and paste!
