The article is fucking gay, doesn't even link to the video. Some redditard (/u/deepfakes) used TensorFlow and a bunch of other libraries to make some shitty fake nudes in video form. You gotta realize though, fantasy porn is always easier in image form. In video, artifacts are too hard to hide unless it's potato quality. Also faking voice and mannerisms is a whole other can of worms, this one only swaps faces so it's like watching a whore with a decent face mask on and non-existent acting.

He keeps putting these on SendVid (which Vice thought was "sendvids" lol), and they get taken down, I'm not sure why he doesn't use another site. The gfycat uploads that I found in plebbit comments have the sound removed... How hard can it be to upload a video in this day and age? I guess that's reddit for you. Anyway, generally the quality is very bad. Lots of artifacts, and the replacement is apparently done as a low-res rectangle, meaning there's a discontinuity around the forehead, neck and cheeks where you can see a sudden change from new face to original face. It also doesn't seem to get the hue/tone/lighting right. All the videos are very low quality, because it probably looks even worse on watchable bitrates. tl;dr: Just like the fake celeb nudes we've had for years, but a million times worse, AND he seems to have godawful taste.

The commenter on lobste.rs makes a nice point, though: When this becomes more advanced, it will take a gigantic shit on ubiquitous video surveillance thanks to the "but a hacker could have faked it!" defense.

the government can get you for any reason they want, and they know what their cameras saw. they don't need to prove it to someone else. they don't believe their off the shelf smart cameras could be hacked unless there's some strong indication. besides if this was true nobody could be arrested for CP because it's extremely easy to plant CP on anyone's computer.

The clip I saw from the Maisie Williams one did not look half bad at parts. Next step: Easy to use Open source voice synthesis. Then the waifu age will truly be upon us.

If an artifact is easy to spot, it's easy to fix by hand. It would just take a lot of tedious work. But there were, usually very short, video fakes before there were automated tools to make them. I am not so sure about that. Digital still fakes have not really improve over the last twenty years. They are at a higher resolution and some of the tools are easier to use, but they still have the same problems they always had. There might be less really terrible fakes now, but there are not more good ones. There are probably less really good ones because the culture of autist that produced them was eaten by social media, the mainstreaming of the internet and an overall decline of care and discipline in young men.

It's amazing how goyim will convince themselves of this instantly if this tech was made. If the tech exists it's because it was inevitable, it's not like some unique genius method that some guy stumbled upon by some massive luck. The tech will be made and remade independently by multiple entities and even the one or two products with some watermark will be easily modified to remove it. It will eventually be impossible to tell by forensic methods whether something is fake. That said, we still don't even have something that looks real to a _human_ eye.
