>libreoffice opens contest
>many shitty nominees
>libbie amongst them all
>everyone votes for her
>vote closes
>reopens as booru
>no anime girl
>no green spurdo
>no libbie
>anon finds out the penguin mascot is a traced stock art
>another anon finds the owl is also a ripoff
>everyone votes shitty penguin as protest
>libreoffice tries to make the octopus win but fails
>wipes imageboard
>tries to pull pr stunt
meanwhile
>tyson upset over libbie getting outed for bullshit reasons
>anons and drawfags make lots of OC for tyson and for /tech/
>sends them to tyson
>tyson appreciates and also tells anon that other artists furries got upset about him releasing free art (pic related 3)
>another anon says that other people didn't want him to enter the contest because he'd make them look bad

They take him responsible because they think that releasing quality art for gratis will make the price of the art go down.

It's been discussed before, free mascots for open source software aren't a threat on degeneracy market, no matter how you look at it. People in open source don't go and commission mascots from furries.
There's just enough people with stupid stances among artists, even those who are very good at drawing can make retarded decisions about their art (see Strype for example), it's as common as in any other community unfortunately, but I wouldn't say that artfag community is toxic like that.

Just think of it like how an anime studio will can differ in quality going from an old TV airing to an OVA. the OVA will have higher production and better anatomy because of that, but try to maintain the essence of the show. So tysontan is going to shoot for higher quality than just moeblobs with passable human shapes by doing figure / anatomy studies instead of just winging it, but still keeping it true to his style hes spent years on.
If you liked his recent pose study sketches vs pose sketches hes done with no ref, its obvious theres a big quality difference and nothing to get upset about.

Well /tech/ after suffering for half a week getting rid of the virus, and then the other half trying to force my PC to take Linux as a dual boot.. I'm finally able to boot to either, but it has to be manually because Linux didn't install to the UEFI section, and the old Linux in the EUFI bios is a dead, failed inactive one. I can't seem to get rid of the shitty BCD entries but everything at least works right now. Is it worth another day of pain to try to reinstall linux to fix the UEFI section?

I already looked into this, it's on my to do list but in order to run the programs I want then it needs to be Windows because Linux's support is far inbetween and Linux's programs arent viable on their own.
The issue with VMs is that they only run software graphics rendering so my videocard would go wasted, and again what I do needs hardware accelleration. I looked up if there's another way and found about Nvidia or AMD can push HW acell into VMs boosting the performance. But the bigger hit to performance is supposed to be due to the disc i/o thrashing and I've already been looking to get an SSD only then I'll have to do this dual install shit all over again

As far as Linux and gaming go, I'd say it's 'good enough' unless you're the type who likes LEDs on his ram sticks. Between native games, emulators open source games and engines reimplementations like OpenMW, you actually have more to play on Linux than any of the consoles. Things that are holding it back are the quality of the ports and the drivers. Less the drivers since AMD got their shit together this past year though.

Huion is kind of new on the scene, but the reason they've gotten some momentum is because it's not only a cheap wacom alternative but a cintiq one, and probably better quality than Yiynova.
They dont have the batteryless pens because wacom patented that, and they dont have tilt or rotation but it's a very good digitizer if you cant afford wacoms top of the line hardware.

Dunno, Huion is relatively popular among people who don't/can't drop extra cash for Wacom's brand and batteryless pen, but I think Wacom still has like 70% of the market.

I think you're right. Their main patents expired in the 2000s so we got Monoprice, Yiynova, Artisoul and Huion competitors the popped up. Wacom still has tons of patents on their products but batteryless pens looks like it's finally open, but there isnt many companies doing it. The pen tilt patent also looks like it might be open to the market, but no ones biting and id make the switch if I could have tilt even with the battery. Huion says their bat life is 300+ hours so its not too bad
As always, Wacom is extremely price gouging and even though most of their tablets support full rotation they dont ship any of their tablets with pens that can do rotation, even after dropping 2k on a pen display digitizer you still have to shell out 100 for the art pen if you want rotation.

He has no idea what the fuck he's talking about. Ext4 is a simple extension of ext3 to allow extents, filesystems up to 1EiB (with individual files up to 16 TiB), and a bunch of other things, like nanosecond-precision timestamps on files.
Literally the only thing ext4 doesn't do as far as security goes is that it doesn't honor "secure deletion" attribute, and that was a weak security feature anyway, as it just means that the system overwrites a deleted file a single time on deletion. Whether you have that enabled or if you use "shred", you are still risking sensitive metadata leaking through your journal, and data can still be recovered after a single overwrite. If you really want security, you fucking encrypt your volumes. Full-disk encryption and full swap encryption are the best defenses against people with physical access getting your data.

You can find the brushsize in Window->Tool options Panel
I gave Mypaint a shot tonight and this may now be my second most hated UI only beaten by Gimp. Thank christchan that they released the engine in libmypaint if people want to use it. Mypaint is like Sai except convoluted in every way and has some of the most confusing color pickers ever with some 8way shit or fractal flower thing (i know i dont have to use them). I hate how the brushes are displayed with eyesore white on black boxes, cant shrink any of the panels or detach them and lots of options are scattered around instead of being nice and compact like Sai or PaintStorm. One of the most irritating parts about Mypaint was that anything panel I opened would be a Russian roulette wheel if it showed up on the left side, right side, or even my second monitor. No way to fucking predict anything, even if they are all related like going through the different types of colorwheels it randomly decided right or left. Same with brush sets, which dont replace the window but instead stack and clutter up the space. Seriously, fuck this UI.

If it's generating quality memes and OC then there's nothing to be salty about and it's really 'furfags'. Most of GNU and Linux software have animal mascots and that includes the BSDs too.
>The influx of furfags does go to show that /tech/ has been getting much worse in recent years. Fuck, 3 years ago /tech/ was a quality board.
Not in a sense that it's all furfags fault. Original tech posters had long left during fred/jim/josh fiasco. Redditors started to migrate here temporarily when fred invited them which caused oldfags to disperse, jim erased pedo boads that caused more than half the userbase to leave while josh exposed IP backlogs which also cased another dispersion while the mod.php or whatever undebuggable shit kept causing the site to overload.

not halfchan but we're dealing with redditards who talk too much, mostly.
>I suppose it's only a matter of time before RATE MY WALLPAPER threads and other cancer low effort circlejerks start entering this board too.
What's the problem? Rice threads aren't harmful and moralfags will stay away on 8chan because it's a pedo hotspot. Just take a look at how much cp is linked on /b/. You're probably a newfag and didn't know that notorious pedo tripfags and namefags were circulating the board years ago.
>We already have net neutrality threads undermined by trump retards who whine about how killing net neutrality somehow rescues the free market (it does fuckall to break the ISP monopolies and does plenty to fuck over businesses that depend on broadband internet for their business).
Net neutrality in the EU? Yes. Net neutrality II in the US and its followers? Terrible. You see network neutrality today is basically enabling FCC to regulate and constrain the internet. It's a bad move to consumers since the internet is in-demand and is now a basic need. Net neutrality II is being pushed to protect ISPs from the bandwidth alphabet companies are consuming and not paying which is the other side and a good thing. Not that it's a bad thing to put identifiers on 'alphabet' packets but the problem is it will fuck up the entire internet ecosystem either way.

I don't give a shit about funny OC. You do you. But when it's becoming a smut thread in /tech/ I'm starting to wonder if you're on the wrong board.
>Not in a sense that it's all furfags fault. Original tech posters had long left during fred/jim/josh fiasco. Fatpeoplehate didn't stay on long. Reddit was encouraged more to migrate to voat which was more to their liking. There was always some overlap between the gg board of the month and /r/KotakuInAction though. And that was from the start. Josh being a colossal retard and hotwheels supporting the whole Infinity Next fiasco definitely pissed people off. I have no idea why Hotwheels thought dumbfuck Josh was up to the job. IP leaking was also a massive issue. Now, removing pedo is honestly not my problem as in my experience the pedos have been some seriously insufferable cunts screeching for acceptance as they plaster boards with CP. I'm sure there may have been reasonable pedos among them, but pedo posters were pretty much always cancer whenever I saw them.
>Maybe try to post oldfag pics like pic related and we'll agree that you've been here 3 years ago.
I'm torposting and I rarely saved pics off /tech/ to begin with. I can vouch that there was a thread some 3 years ago where someone was posting shell access because /tech/ wasn't as cancer as halfchan /g/.
I remember when attempting rice threads would get you shat on because they were low effort thinly veiled circlejerks waay back in the early days. The problem is that you don't want circlejerks on your board. Once that starts happening post quality goes to shit because the circlejerking, low effort posters will bleed over into the rest of /tech/. Tripfags were annoying as shit and I never bothered to familiarize myself with any of them.
>Net neutrality II is being pushed to protect ISPs from the bandwidth alphabet companies are consuming and not paying which is the other side and a good thing.
No one gives a shit where the bandwidth comes from. If you pay for the bandwidth the ISP doesn't get to bitch and cry because 80% of it was spent on netflix streaming or P2P shit or whatever the fuck. You have a right to spend that bandwidth however you fucking want because you paid for that fucking right. The ISP just wants a right to price gouge both ends of the connection (on top of the fact that these companies already have to pay for their own bandwidth, of course) and start being selective in how they prioritize and give you internet traffic. That's a power they're sure to abuse just like how they always abuse their customers.

We're talking about 8chan history dumbfuck, not 4chan history. A large part of the draw of 8chan back in the day was that it had far less cancer than 4chan did. Now the two sites are approaching each other more and more in quality. Used to be that "evidence motherfucker" was a serious rule on infinitechan. Now we have retarded smug faggots whining about how it's not their responsibility to spoonfeed you so why should they bother to post evidence for their spurious claims (something that would've gotten you tarred and feathered for being a worthless tard back in the day). To elaborate: yes 8chan was always shit. Back then it was different sort of shit but it was shit nonetheless. It's just you grew older and the kind of shit you were into went out of fashion, or you stopped liking the kind of shit you used to be into. Everyone grows old, you do too. As a personal anecdote, just the other day I was walking back home and saw some kid popping firecrackers. I used to like them as a kid, and seeing him doing it I didn't thought it was cool or fun, I thought it was fucking annoying, I thought of coming over and slapping him over the head for disturbing public peace. While origin of your sentiment is probably different, fundamentally it's the same thing.

Don't kind yourself, anon. What drew people here is that Moot and the janitors were suppressing thread about a certain shitstorm and Hot Wheels promised this place would be more open and less curated, which worked out well for a while, until the pedo boards pushed that past its limit.
And the reason thread quality went up, back in the day, is because the types of people who actually had the gumption to get up and move were more intelligent, on average, than the ones that didn't, but even they started going back to halfchan or quitting imageboards altogether when the technical limitations of the software this place runs on became a problem.
Now, as for /tech/ and it's affinity (no pun intended) for Tyson's mascots, I don't really see the problem with it. I see it evolving into the kind of relationship that /po/ has with Pepe or /christian/ has with Christchan. Lewds will still happen, that is inevitable, but more non-lewd Libbie OC is being made too. And if we can encourage said OC to be more /tech/ (particularly F/OSS) related, then all the better. Whether you like it or not, a lot of anons have taken a liking to Kiki and Libbie and even Tyson himself, so this is likely to continue for quite a while. Maybe the dedicated threads become more spaced apart, but they're a part of our culture now.

Boy you sure took a long time to come up with a retort. And all it boils down to is "but where's the evidence?" Sadly, since there is no archive, I guess you'd have to be an oldfag to know what kind of shit used to go down and what kind of shit goes down now, but you'd be on drugs if you want to insist nothing happened to the 8chan community and userbase over the past few years. You can call that shit "confirmation bias" if it makes you feel clever, but you'd be a retard if you want to pretend that, say, 8/pol/ didn't attract idiots from 4chan and beyond en masse during the Trump election and it's all just "confirmation bias" as you so moronically put it. And those /pol/flakes certainly imported their sense of autism to the other boards on /v/ and elsewhere for a long time screaming that everyone who didn't feel like putting up with their rabid bullshit was suddenly /leftypol/.
>>834454
You already made this point, dumbfuck. The only new thing out of it all is your assertion that 8chan was a different kind of shit then than it is now but it was shit all the way through, compared to previously when you simply asserted that 8chan was always shit as if the previous difference never made a lick of difference in the 8chan community. However it makes a real difference when the old attitude of "evidence motherfucker" starts to get answered with the idiotic attitude of "I wont spoonfeed you, do your own research to find my evidence for me, thanks" or /pol/tards start ranting about liberals in threads that have fuck-all to do with politics.

Because 3 years ago you would get shat on more if you attempted to start low quality threads. Now we've got more idiots arguing "omg anon dont be a faggot shit threads are life" preaching the acceptance of living with cancer instead of applying chemo.

Agreed. Except /tg/ came over for a different reason. 4/tg/ was being nazimodded and flooded under a giant pile of quest threads, so people came to 8/tg/ in hopes of a better forum.
>And the reason thread quality went up, back in the day, is because the types of people who actually had the gumption to get up and move were more intelligent, on average, than the ones that didn't, but even they started going back to halfchan or quitting imageboards altogether when the technical limitations of the software this place runs on became a problem.
True. But a major part of 8chan elitism was that post quality and board quality was generally better than 4chan's shit, which is now much less the case. Of course, 8chan's server tech was so badly mismanaged that server stability and retarded NEXT migration were becoming serious issues so people started leaving. Speaking of which, the tor service is somehow the slowest piece of crap with regular outages, and I'm pretty sure it's not tor's fault since I can access torchan just fine without any of these absurd delays.
>Now, as for /tech/ and it's affinity (no pun intended) for Tyson's mascots, I don't really see the problem with it.

>which adobe and other non-free program have access.
Thanks for the interesting link but this part just sounds like a leap in logic with no proof. If there was any evidence of these hidden instructions being secret commercial only knowledge then there would already have been cases of leaks, or rumors flying around to keep it hush hush. I highly doubt a no name Japanese guys who coded Sai was granted insider knowledge just because they went to market it, and people thought Sai was free for a while because it was impossible to buy outside of their JP site which had bad international support, so people just used a portable thinking it was freeware.
Far more likely is that Sai just tried to do a few things very well while Krita goes for bust without nailing down the essential core features so it's been a buggy and laggy mess for most of their development. The pdf makes no mention of the closed-source cabal, only mentions that it's undocumented and a tangled mess to navigate with every update compounding on the maze. When you look at it like that, its just as easy to see they don't document it out of incompetence rather than any nefarious plan. It just reinfoces that Intel won the processor wars and so AMD and everyone who buys AMD has to suffer because the software developers are too lazy to code for both. This sort of info is nothing new, I already knew AMD's faster/more cores was being left behind by developers in favor of Intel's more efficient and more threads. So this doesnt surprise me at all. How does AMD's Ryzen fair on this ground, any better with compatibility?
As far as the guy trying to build an ARM GPU driver being blacklisted. Not surprising since he would have undermined their businesses, and blacklisting is highly common in tech or entertainment industries since everyone is connected. It's bullshit but expected though.

I will run the x64 bit version if it's offered to me, and doesn't come with warnings about stability / performance like Gimp x64. Trying to run Painter in x86 is not a good idea, it's intense on the processor gpu and ram because of all of the calculations that Painter does to simulate real media. Sai is x86, Sai2.0 is x64 Sai x86 runs better than Krita x64 and this doesnt look like a problem to you? If Krita isnt good enough on x64 compatibility then I'm not surprised but they should mention it. I'll try their x86 version but it's been 3+ kickstarters of updates and ebegging about taxes and more ebegging in the future so I'm not as tolerant with them as I used to be. "Let's make Krita faster than Photoshop!" was the 2015 kickstarter, and it's not even as fast as Sai. PaintStormStudio on the other hand is currently faster than PS and they're brand new. I put more money into donating to Krita than it would cost for a lifetime of PaintStorm updates which can be bought for 20$. Maybe PaintStorm has this "secret capitalist mafia processor instructions" but I doubt it, I think they just know what theyre doing more than Krita's developers.

Nobody is saying Krita couldn't be improved. But it's still competitive with SAI. And lets not pretend SAI is perfect either. Between the aging code base and bugs that will never be fixed, there are more than a few hiccups to deal with. Plus the fact that SAI 2 is still developing at a snails pace and will still be proprietary and tied to specific platforms, it's still better to learn the free tool in the long run.

I agree that the theory's kind of ridiculous, but it's dumb to assume Intel or AMD would ever tell developers about the secret instructions, even if they're letting people use them, for exactly that reason. It's far more likely that their Partner Program or whatever means they get a proprietary Intel/AMD compiler that uses the instructions internally, so they never have to tell developers why the compiler is however much faster.
>This sort of info is nothing new, I already knew AMD's faster/more cores was being left behind by developers in favor of Intel's more efficient and more threads.
Ryzen's actually making some headway in that regard, sales are much better than they used to be and the newer chips Intel released in response aren't nearly as good.

<Aging code base
>Krita development is 19 years old.
>Sai is 9 years old
Muh FOSS is a stupid argument here because if Krita devs ran out of money right now like they almost did, then Krita 3x would be the last major version and sit in stagnation as a buggy stitched together clusterfuck. Did Sai's developers go out and ebeg after Sai was solid and highly successful among artists? If Sai's developer did you would have bet your ass that there would have been people backing Sai2 on kickstarter, but instead Sai was around for years and while it was limited, there was basically no complaints for what it did, and it was shared and recommended all over the place. Why would you recommend Krita in it's current state? That's like ignoring the RROD of Xbox's rushed launch.
<Bugs never fixed
Minimal at best. The bugs in Sai are so rare that it's hard to do a search for them, and mostly just comes down to tablet problems or going outside of RAM and crashing, which is why they first started Sai 2.
<Muh updates pace
Ever hear of the tortoise and the hare? I would rather have very reliable but slow updates, or even no updates with a rock solid program. Hell why do you think there is so many people still on Photoshop CS5 or CS6 and didnt buy into the CreativeCloud meme? Because CC has had lots of bugs that are not tolerable, and Krita's bugs are worse than any of CC's
<It's still better to learn the free tool in the long run.
Based on what, besides being a hipster? Muh libre doesnt have much point if you're trying to be a content creator, they are not going to spy on you. All of the most powerful and flexible software isnt free, and the most stable software isnt free either because they have to actually hit a quality standard each major release, with how much is acceptable for bugs rather than throwing shit at the wall like every FOSS dev and shrugging their shoulders at the bugs. That's all Krita devs are doing, pile on more Kickstarter meme features every version and shrugging off making sure its solid for another year. They amassed so many bugs that it's going to be pretty much all of 2018's roadmap to deal with them. Yet there wont be any more memey features added so good luck trying to get ebegging money campaigns because all people will pay for is features. Minimal bugs is what they should have tried for the entire time but they decided to be retards and hot glue it all together without a solid foundation.
No, Both Sai and PaintStorm easily crushes Krita in terms of the amount of bugs, and performance. Wanting to use it just because its FOSS is the equivalent of virtue signaling and holds no value in actual work.

And this still doesnt change I can put in the 20year old CD of Photoshop 7.0 and get better performance and less bugs up the ass than Krita. Guess what? Adobe also released PS 7.0 for free.
>Krita's been forked already
Goes to show me that they're less competent than I realized. If the only thing you can come up with is "Sai is lighter weight" out of the myriad of problems Krita has then you are a retard who belongs on /g/, full stop. FOSS projects are notoriously cobbled together shit and it takes ages to get anything usable out of it. Linux being a prime example of this itself with all of it's different forks, when someone has to do presentations of how Linux is behind in bugs and compatibility for 10 years before Linux distros get off their ass then it's a problem. Krita devs have the same mentality, FOSS devs should learn from the Linux Mint team's approach of releasing slow but polished updates so people dont have to fuck around with their cobbled code.

>The fact remains that you are putting a lot of faith in a tool
Sai's devs and other companies have proven they can do lightweight and reliable code, not bloat central like Adobe. Krita's devs havent proven they can do anything besides chase feature-creep yet, every year its a buggy program and not worth recommending because they keep tacking on more gimicks and letting the bugs pile up. They say 2018 is when they want 0 bugs so maybe it will finally be recommendable.
>next to zero control over
This only matters from a paranoid pessimistic perspective. If it's works good then there's no reason to care about who controls it, this isnt NSA backdoored software it runs fine without always-on activation. Huge shifts like that or big bugs that piss off users are usually only from the big players like Adobe, Corel, Autodesk, ect. And the reason they happen is pursuing feature-creep that Krita's devs are dead set on. I cant even think of anytime a smaller player in the creative software market fucked anyone over and I doubt you can either. Another thing to note. ArtRage > Mypaint or Sai by 10 fold but it's far cheaper than Corel's so you can keep clinging onto FOSS worship You dont get to be smug over features when they are objectively worse in features or bugs or performance.
If the big players do enough neglect or money grabs to piss off the userbase then they will start seeking alternatives but until it's up to snuff the FOSS programs wont have much of an impact on the market.

>2004-08-02 1st edition

Also the SAI team is not actually a team. Is Koji Komatsu
alone and tired of a lot of non japanese people people pirating his software.
in my experience you can search for SAI in google from 8years ago
and the first result leads to the official page which says it cost 5400JPY (something that I guess never changed)
and the 2nd result is the page for the fan translation patch for it which also says Sai is not Free.
This is not about misinformation. is about people finding SAI pirated everywhere, mostly on deviantart as a random link.
because it FIXES the problem of sai not saving files. but guess what. that's because the 3month trial time ended in the 1.1.0 version.
Also. SAI is not as cheap as he people want to. It cost about 50USD since ever. and that's a lot more than pirated photoshop. which
no one pays for. even a lot more than CLIPSTUDIOPAINT/mangaStudio that one cost like 25usd three times a year.

That's some nice mentally handicapped gymnastics there, I don't blame him for being pissed off at it. The cracked version is also a portable which makes it the easiest to spread. He fucked up on not being able to handle international payments and key deliveries as best he could but he didnt deserve to get jewed by artists around the world. 60bucks was cheap enough comparatively to the rest of the big players, when Sai was released there was far less art program competitors. Now I would probably say go with PaintStorm (20$) or CPS which can go on sale for 15$ or pay the extra 20$ and get ArtRage which is far more capable for 80$.
When Krita devs gets off their ass and fixes the bugs dragging it down then I'll start to recommend that too.

another thing.
my problem with people defending Krita with arguments like."you're running it on a toaster" are shit to me.
the best thing SAI does is running smoothly in on every machine. it does it's job very well.
others are just cluttered and bloated piles of non optimized piles of code. if compared to SAI
I started using SAI in 2009. it was amazing how smooth was running on the 1.7GHZ monocore intel celeron of my laptop.
when photoshop7 was little bit laggy and CS2 crashed a lot of times because of lack of memory (1gb).
even today SAI surprise me in this side. 2 yearsago I bought a really old laptop for testing purposes,
TOSHIBA portage m200 tabletPC (wacom screen)
>Intel Pentium M 735 / 1.7 GHz (1core, centrino sticker)
>1gb ddr ram (originally was 512mb)
>windows XP tablet edition
and SAI runs nice. even when almost nothing else does.
not even firealpaca or opencanvas1 without some random lags
being honest. a lot of drawing software today have a problem with performance for some reason.
and the only solution is go and grab some japanese software.
in terms of performance the only software I know is fast as SAI is firealpaca. which is a better version of firealpaca cloud.
which is also derived from the free Opencanvas v1. just like mangalabo, firealpaca and who knows what else.
I don't know if put CPS in that list. actually.
anyway I don't know if the code of opencanvas1 was released to the public at some point. but its engine is really amazing.
never tried artrage or paintstorm. i'll give them a try.

>i couldn't draw libbie in that perspective
Maybe check out doxy's tutorials? he has some decent tips for stuff like this.
It's not just "Squirrel" but the expression on Libbie's face, along with how fast the events shifted that goes along with it, doesnt really look like they're close to me. Not a sort of playful jab, but instead looks condescending, demeaning or doesnt give a damn, intending to dig at Kiki and hurt her feelings turning the guilt on Kiki instead of her failure to get a job. That's just what I get out of your drawfag,
>Regular show
If thats the comparison then yes I can see it, except Mordecai and Rigby are both retarded assholes and it's no longer the same characters Kiki and Libbie when you project drastically different personalities onto them like that, and I dont like the idea of making them like that when TysonTan already gave the baseline of Libbie's Bio. Of course I care more about canon more than your average 8chan user, and you obviously dont. Thats been clear the whole time that you're just in it for drawfagging random scenarios and thats ok, I just prefer an actual character instead of a blank slate for memes, same as I dont see Libbie going on a cussing spree over the rejection.
The same sentences can be used to convey wildly different results.
>What! you didnt get the job... how are we supposed to pay the bills? (nervous shock) vs (chewing out)
>Hey, Come on squirrel... we can just run one of your donation campaigns! (condescending) vs (hesitant suggestion)
Anyways, my writefag rant is over.

>I will run the x64 bit version if it's offered to me, and doesn't come with warnings about stability / performance like Gimp x64.
Then you should use Opencanvas the 32 bit one. As far as I know the problem lies in the CPU or mostly APUs. If I remember, OC features some kind of memory pagefile which should work pretty well with SSDs so you won't be needing x64 anytime soon. Wine linux + wacom support is good too although I don't know if the current newer version still works with wine.
All we can hope is the CPU market to get better to the point krita and almost anything should work well. Most of the problems we face are hardware problems. If you use linux you should use a different kernel. It might be linux wacom drivers that lags. Try the linux-ck or rt kernel.

most performance whiners are winfags with low MIS. it's basically their system bogged down with viruses or self-replicating worms and they're technically oblivous. I can attest that every winfag I ever met who let me fix their shit (they're even ITfag and similar for fuck's sake!) have non-native malware underlying in their OS or the OS itself is probably constantly throwing out errors in the background (error log) due to drive old age/bad sectors, hardware falling apart, or mildly corrupt files and configs. every winfag without a doubt would have used crackshit once. I doubt they even know where to get the original copy of kmspico and have basic knowledge to checksum the hash of software let alone verify the source before they install or grant it admin priv.
