Otherwise the cost of solar panels and battery banks would ensure you never earned any for several years.

Additionally if you live in a place with shit sunlight, like the UK, there won't be enough sun to keep it running 24h, possibly not even enough to run it at all most of the time.

Don't forget, mining doesn't just make you money, but it also helps secure the network, and is thus a civic duty for all users of a given PoW coin.

40-60 USD/month on cpu alone.

GPU look into electroneum, more profitable than monero curently and same algorithm. Do not try other algs, they tax the GPUs a lot more and will fry the thing.

Alternatively just sell it and straight up buy crypto.
