https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPL_linking_exception

why is that allowed? GPL is cuck license

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Lesser_General_Public_License

>For proprietary software, code under the LGPL is usually used in the form of a shared library, so that there is a clear separation between the proprietary and LGPL components

LGPL is cuck license too

We need a full commie license. Everything that touches open source should be forced to release all code for free or go to oven.

GPL has nothing to do with communism. Kill yourself.

copyright law allows you to add whatever exceptions you want to a license.

the same reason that allows you to license your shit under BSD vs GPL also allows you to pick between GPL vs GPL with exceptions. this isn't a problem with the GPL. simply don't offer the exception if you don't want your software to be cucked

You haven't read it.

A LGPL licensed software can be used in non-free software BUT only if you allow the users to have the four freedoms on the specific bits of LGPL software.

A company still have to redistribute the modifications made to the LGPL source and the users still have control over these LGPL bits.

>We need a full commie license.

I love freedom and food thank you.

Excuse me for breaking in here, but if capitalism is freedom, then why is /tech/ constantly complaining about lack of freedom? What does freedom have to do with the economic model of a democracy? Can you mention a state with a communist economic model where you can not run a business? Can you mention a state with a capitalist economic model where you can't start a cooperative?

>copyright law allows you to add whatever exceptions you want to a license.

Sure but whether they are legally valid is another matter. If you don't make a copy of a GPL library, how can the license be enforced under copyright law?

It's not just limited to /tech/ but pretty much anybody has a strong but misguided sense of entitlement in the technology they use. It's one thing to discuss flaws that currently exist and to make lists to improve those flaws. It's another thing to demand that other people (businesses) to work to the /tech/nicians high level and do nothing about it but post drivel about the technology and the people involved. /tech/ has no sense of capital investment and development.
