You don't need to know jquery to create an automated dubs checker, everything you can do on jquery, you can on javascript.

jquery is not something new, is not a new langauge. It is a library/plugin that extends javascript, it's original intention is to make shit work on every web browser including internet explorer. It has it's own date picker 'widget' to get around the html's standard inputs of datetime-local or date which isn't supported on some web browsers, which you can get away with this unless you are bent on consistent user experience.

The only reason to use jquery if you cannot be bothered going through javascript's default methods to access the DOM and want to travel through the DOM with css selectors.

jQuery IS javascript. It's javascript someone else wrote.

The problem is that more often than not people treat it as a replacement for plain js, which only binds you to that particular method of doing things even though you have an entire programming language you could be using.

I wonder what's worse: LARPing, drug-addled script kiddies or ReCaptcha? Anyone can scrape and no one cares what you do with that, but your manual shitposts are annoying enough already.

jQuery IS JavaScript.

Except jQuery is this one big monolithic way of doing things. It makes life easier for the most part, but say for example you only want to add some miniscule effect on your page and nothing else, then jQuery is overkill.

I started writing a project with jquery but it was slow and seemed pointless so I just wrote the rest as plain javascript. I don't see the point of it.
