Is this the way of the future /tech/? Using the transportation of media files to get your computer to do something automatically? Its rumored such a service is automatically installed with vcruntime140.dll. Do you have that version of the "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable" installed?

Also how can through the magic of "social justice" such a similar system work its way into open-source projects?

If there is no issue on linux, then kindly delete both your threads OP.

this is a dumbshit exploit that only works on windows, not only that it isn't even code execution.

This is actually pretty clever. Reminds me of that file scam that streamed the video to expose them or the bad old days embedding call home scripts in wmv files to run in windows media player. Still much more sophisticated than those.

We already had a thread for that, fucking redditor.

It only works if you play local video or audio files with Windows Media Player.

It has nothing to do with Tor and you can just uninstall Windows media player or set a different default media player like VLC or mpv or whatever the fuck you prefer.

I bet there's even an option to disable DRMshit in WMP. Not that I would recommend anyone to use WMP.

 No.1038263>>1038269

And it doesn't have anything to do with MS Visual C++. Why would it? It's build into WMP which is part of every non-N Windows version.

Who in the flying fuck would even use tor over windows?

Check the event viewer, dr watson, and crashdumps. Windows will literally crash your tor browser at some point so it can lieterally get your memory footprint in plain/raw crap. Even worse is it'll also crash your ring3 VPN bitch.

This is pretty much the same shit. Just don't use WMP.

>>1038264

>>t. doesn't know how DRM works

I do. There's probably an option to just not play DRM files instead of sending requests to an IP.

 No.1038268>>1038270 >>1038271

>>1038265

It has nothing to do with Tor. Playing videos in Tor is fine. Downloading them and playing them with WMP is not.

>>1038267

Depends. If you live in SG the drm will work flawlessly that all you'll have to do is connect to a wifi network.

Registry has the entire drive's file hashes, it can just upload that and delete it all flawlessly in one go without any interaction.

Using glownig browser is already bad. Using it on glownig OS is carcinogenic.

 No.1046351

yeah uh, tor browser warns you when starting an external application because that's been known since forever. same goes for browser plugins.
