I was expecting AMD to blow Nvidia out of the water with a GPU that gives more frames per $$.

Can buy an overclocked 2080 with better performance for $50 less. What went wrong?

>code never employs memory/speed tradeoffs

>code recalculates instead of caching

<hey anon here's a slightly slower CPU that has a shit-ton of memory

>run same code on it

>eh it's slower what's the point

You're a retard.

Radeon VII is just a void-filler until AMD releases the Navi cards this years.

It's not to be taken seriously, only retards don't know that and go on asking "what went wrong".

Is it wong to expect more, especially after waiting so long?

 No.1028575

>>1028542

Yes it is. I don't know what more you need that demands more frames at a higher resolution. 120FPS is the upper limit of what the eyes will discern.

REBRANDED GPU

Eitherway the VII is literally AMD's old strategy of MORE CORES except this time it's MORE MEMORY

 No.1028585

it sure would be great if your average consumer would spend their money on developing shit for the already existing hardware first instead of sucking dick on empty promises.

Navi had to be pushed back 3-4 months due to some issues. This was thrown together as a holdover so they can maintain relevance for share holders. Anyone looking at the specs and expecting stellar competition for gaming is retarded. This is however, a pretty good and cheap alternative for people that need a workstation GPU.

>I was expecting AMD to blow Nvidia out of the water with a GPU

It's going to be at least a year and more likely 2-3 before AMD can put out a decent consumer card that can really compete with nvidia. AMD can only compete with the compute market, and that is what it's focusing on right now. The VII is simply a tweaked Radeon Instinct, and as such is the most affordable (for AMD) method of offering the prosumer/creator market a card with tremendous capability that isn't at a Radeon Instinct level price point.

AMD has no incentive to try and force nvidia to lower prices, because the average consumer is going to ignore them and buy nvidia cards just like they always do.

 No.1028659

1) It's not the MSRP AT ALL

2) It's a shrinked Vega 64, like Intel's Toc

>>1028465 (OP)

This shit is so misleading. I'm so sick of reviewers listing performance in FPS. The actual difference between 100.1 FPS (RTX 2080) and 92.5 FPS (Radeon VII) is less than a millisecond in frame time.

 No.1028688

Stay mad nvidia cucks, stay mad.

I mean, you arent as bad a intel shills but still, you are fucking retarded.

>not waiting 5 years then redoing the benchmark with the latest drivers only to find out the AMD card runs 20% faster while Nvidia's performance both in speed and stock prices has decreased by 200%

Here's your (You).

The better question is, will they reverse engineer Gameworks to OpenGPU now that they're both Open Source.

Maybe we can finally get PhysX on AMD.
