 No.1026033>>1026036 [Watch Thread][Show All Posts]

What is the best image organization software? I've used adobe bridge in the past when doing photography work, but I want a better way to store my research and meme pictures. I recall seeing a thread before which listed some open source examples, but I can no longer find it. Open source preferred if possible.

find . -type f \( -iname '*.jpg' -o -iname '*.jpeg' -o -iname '*.png' -o -iname '*.gif' \) >image-list.txt

Using proper filenames with a GUI file manager I find sufficient for about 100Gb of memes.

hehe, I already have everything in one central folder, but most of the names are garbage and I'd rather not have to rename them.

There's no reason to organize your memes like a tagged database because your conceptual/imaginary schema is more important than your filenames and directory structure. What you should really do is rename everything to something random, pithy, or tersely descriptive, and let your memory and the spur of the moment guide you. I went through several organizational frenzies in the past, so I can sympathize, but honestly nothing good comes from it, and if anything I've just lost valuable memes and the mind of an innocent youth.

sxiv (which is a great image viewer) gives you an option to mark images with your mouse in thumbnail mode and write a list of the marked images on closing. With a bit of scripting this is quite useful for sorting images the quick way.
