IF NOT FOR LUCAS AND THE MOUSE WE WOULD'VE DESTROYED YOU!

Even though Star Trek also got shitty new films to reboot it, the people in charge of Star Trek never said "Fuck the old canon everything is invalidated now outside our sub-par reboot."

b559c3 (8) No.6371>>6381

The larger philosophical question is since Star Trek canon largely draws from real Earth history, though that is an ever moving target, could the Enterprise crew fire up a theatrical cut of A New Hope on movie night in the mess hall?

I read an essay in some Trek Magazine collection about how bizarre it is that the Star Trek universe had no actual Star Trek in its history, considering the advances WE'VE made because of the people who grew up on it. We've got shit that puts most of their advancements to shame.

And we have. But it's still not enough. It feels, some days, like it will never be enough until it quite literally comes to bloodshed. They sit there on twitter and make bold statements they'd never dare make in public, because they'd get the fuck beaten out of them. They sit there in the Marvel/Disney/etc. offices and plan subversive shit that they claim is for our own good, but is plainly meant to hurt us. People we know and love will not listen when we try to show them the cancer that is being promoted. The SJWs will continue to destroy the things we love in the name of their poisonous ideology, until they are wiped out.

They would adapt because Borg are stupidly OP and are only ever defeated because the writers invent some new asspull.

You're not playing a setting with a planet devouring wizard ghost to it's strengths.

>>6419

>Space sci-fi defeating Space-fantasy

The Enterprise-D has no anti-fighter capabilities and Star Wars lasers are physics destroying bullshit that don't work like real lasers.

And as strange as it sounds at the end of the day the Death Star can outrun any Star Trek ships with the exception of Borg.

663f99 (1) No.6438>>6448

>>6436

>They would adapt

Best of Both World borg maybe could adapt and be frightening, but canon borg after voyager are immune to energy weapons only and Star Wars doesn't shy away from projectiles where it suits them. Fuck, they launch robots with buzz saws at fighter craft.

Besides that, the old canon values for star destroyer turbolasers are stupidly imbalanced to the point that a Star Destroyer could cook the surface of a planet by itself. Borg wouldn't be able to sustain that kind of firepower.

(((Disney))) Star Wars could be a different matter, but the old system had laser power scale from the death star's planetary destroying gun down to a hand blaster. The ship borne turbolasers were insanely powerful.

Star Trek has the same issue. If you go by the bullshit amount of power a hand phaser supposedly outputs, you could carve out a new grand canyon into a planet. Never trust the technobabble.

I'm not. But I'll pass on a little wisdom from a different sci-fi franchise that I taught to my kids when they were little: Never throw the first punch. ALWAYS throw the last. Don't start anything, but absolutely fucking finish it if you need to.

When we all finally agree that it's no longer "starting violence," but actually self-defense, I'm looking forward to seeing some heads on pikes.

Revenge of the Sith shows a 3D space battle. The starfighters dive downward through layers of fighting ships fighting above Coruscant.

It's as 3D as anything Star Trek ever showed. Most often times the ships were all coplanar on TNG or TOS. It's only DS9 which showed 3D fights and they still talked about punching holes through lines.

Agreed. Best thing we can do is sabotage Hollywood with spoilers and revealing the inner corruption currently festering within these tainted franchises to the public in hopes that they'll wake up and stop throwing money at them for mindless trash. If it would result in the death of ST and SW then I'm okay with that, since we still have the vast stories of the past and cringy but traditionally loveable fanfiction .

Star Wars will never have the chance to unfuck itself. It's too dumbed down for the masses. Star Trek has more than enough ammunition to rise above and fight back, especially considering Regressives would likely screech at most episodes for not being with the times and intolerant.

This is why I'm worried about Episode 9 now that Jew Jew Binks will be directing it again. It seems that all he knows how to do when given an iconic property is just make derivative garbage that's full of "remember X" and "hey look it's Y" and "I CLAPPED WHEN I SAW Z" bullshit. It was tolerable in 7 because they weren't going to want to flop straight out of the gate, so playing it safe and hitting the nostalgia was okay (probably not as good as if it had been its own original thing, but at least it was no prequel). However, if 8 is more of that shit, I'm probably going to have to give up on Star Wars.

It's like the first two J.J. Trek films. Being full of hamfisted references was "ehhhhhh, okay, whatever" for the first one, but by the second one it was fucking disgusting. At least it gave me one of the worst cringe moments in film I've ever seen, when Spock poorly khaaaaan'd. Once it moved on to a new director who did something more interesting with the material than just "REMEMBER THIS," it became fun and watchable again (yes it was still a generic revenge plot, but it was more entertaining and gave all the main cast shit to do over the course of the movie).

I think the moral is, keep Jay Jay the Jew Plane away from movies unless you want abhorrently derivative shit.

It's so nice to find someone who's played this.

I've lately taken to naming all my Lancer Frigates as quotes from the plane scene. It started because I name things by function, so Lancer Frigates are "LF". I always group Lancer Frigates in teams of four as the backbone of an imperial fleet, so naming them gets tedious.

So I created "LF inger", which led to "LF lightplan", "LF lysogood", and "LF orYou".

I'm working on conquering all rebellion planets in under 1000 turns. I did my last game in about 1017. I'm curious what the theoretical best is for raping the AI.

Hey come on now. In our defense, half the threads were made by casual Disneyfags during the release of Rogue One who actually think the Disney shit is deep and that supreme leader Snorkel is the greatest mystery of our time. We're so slow we still have threads over a year old. No doubt we'll be flooded with disney-loving bluebactafags by the time TLJ is released.

Holy shit, I now want that to happen in the worst way.

I did a very rough mockup (three minutes in photoshop) of what he might look like. He might be too old at this point. However, a nice wig and some wrinkle-smoothing makeup might allow for it.

N-No… Of course not. TLJ is on the horizon and we're already being plagued by Disney drones. I hate having to grovel to fucking Trekkies after years of division, but… please… help us. You assholes are our only hope in standing a chance against the oncoming wave of Disneyfags. We got a new BO but he thinks we actually stand some sort of chance. I was playing a guy once as Rebels and rushed Coruscant with my starting fleet, forget the exact details after 20 years, but captured Vader/Palpatine and took Coruscant all within about a 100-120 turns. Other guy was BTFO of course.

>The voice is shit too.

That's what I first noticed too, projector dimness and slight lack of focus fuzzed the image just enough to make the CGI Tarkin not look as obviously fake projected as playing it back on an LCD screen. The voice actor sounds nothing like Tarkin, given I've probably watched more Peter Cushing films than the average viewer.

>6770

>Never could do this. Just can't stand the ship designs.

Carriers with x/y wings, a couple of corvettes to engage TIEs to conserve fighters, and a light capital combat ship, dreadnaught or bulk cruisers to engage carracks, lancers is all you really need. The x/y's will shit all over the star destroyers. Neb-B frigates fill a nice cross role between corvette/bulk.

Yeah, I got that, my counter point was you didn't need to build them anyways. All the ships look like pixels anyways. Rebellion and Tie Fighter both need CY remakes.

YMS did a show with some other guy who very aptly pointed out that star wars is basically for nerds who are one step away from dude bros, engaging in spring break wewing in the theater every time they see something remotely familiar in the force awakens.

they are like failed normalfags, but less sympathetic.

I heard a lot of the same behavior in the theater for the Star Trek reboot.

I have to imagine the percentage of people who like only Star Trek or only Star Wars and hate the opposite one is pretty small.

0177f5 (3) No.7049

a lot of star trek fans will admit to also enjoying star wars, along with a lot of other hard science fiction (the first movie was made due to the success of star wars, but the story was basically created along the lines of 2001 a space odyssey).

most star wars fans do not like science fiction. the matrix is about as cerebral as they are capable of.

Not that anon, but the point was that Necron weren't so heavy on the Tomb Kings theme before and were more like an army of unspeaking terminators. A lot of 40k fans miss the old style and see the current style as derivative of Warhammer Fantasy and much less menacing. Whether or not anyone enjoys SG-1 is irrelevant.
