Hey trekanons. I've been looking at trek merch and I just want to ask why is pic related so retardedly expensive? It's old, and a Star Trek vidyagaem, so it's probably not good. Anyone played it, is it worth hunting down used?

59e58d No.368

>>364

It's shit, beyond shit actually. Well actually not too shit in truth. Has a nice selection of ships and eras but literally no effort was put into the game, it could have been so much more. No idea why it's so expensive, should be about $5 most.

cc80fa No.370

>>368

Aw, too bad. I was hoping for something comfy and trek-related to play on my xbox360. I've heard the reboot game is less than polished as well.

I'm beginning to think that "it could have been so much more" is a bit of a theme when it comes to modern trek

You don't want to know, but it's funny, so I'll tell you anyway. The reboot game was such absolute shit that JJ Abrams was "emotionally hurt" by its shittiness and blames it for Into Darkness doing so poorly at the box office.

Reviews called it a brainless third person shooter, and hated it so much it was universally panned.

Befitting garbage it's cheap as hell.

>you'd think that Bioware would have made a Star Trek game over Star Wars.

I was actually planning to work for Bioware.

>Just completed training at a mediocre 3D school that lived for 3 years before dying

>Wife, baby boy, and myself moved back home, which is near Bioware Edmonton

>Working on portfolio CD (this was the early 2000s) in the hopes of impressing the pack of smug cunts guys that ran the joint

>Wife makes friend with wife of Bioware animator

>Talk with him and tell him my plans

>mfw he describes a litany of employee shoahs, the likes of which haven't been seen outside of Victorian times

>Employees forced to work 20 hours days

>Some guys sleep at the office because if they don't have to travel back and forth, they get more time to sleep

>Christmas becomes an anti-holiday as ridiculous release deadlines loom ever closer

>Vicious infighting over the silliest things

And this is BEFORE the social justice virus took hold.

Roughly the same time period:

>Friend of a friend (and a guy who I privately hated) took the reigns of one project: a sequel to a mildly popular game

>No support from above, no support from below

>I assume it was part politics and part his sparkling personality

>Game was universally hated

>He was banished to the manual department

Recently:

>Buddy talks me into going to the reveal party for Ass Effect: Andromeda.

>Never interested in the previous games, and don't give a shit about this one, but buddy's already bought the tickets

>Charity donation, allegedly

>If they're smart, they used the cash for canned goods for themselves

>Watch in horror as sample of the game plays on big screen, making the horrible faces even MORE apparent

>Q&A

>Some sperg asks a question about a particular alien race

>Faggot who answers suddenly starts virtuegasming about Trump, never answering the guy's question, but getting a round of applause from the sheep

>Next guy asks about the shitty faces and when they'll be fixed

>Entire panel gets angry and refuses to answer the question

>Gal asks about romances with aliens

>Complete cum-inhaler answers question. Says he romanced some male non-humanoid thing

>Gets post-coital look on his face and says "The players will find him… very satisfying."

>mfw

Bioware deserves to burn, guys. I loved Baldur's Gate I & II, but their shit is weak and their management is retarded.

c5a181 No.1345

I knew one person who planned to work for Bioware. Two faced faggot who was talking shit about me behind my back.

The other was an asshole who thought he was the shit. Even defending Jennifer Hepler saying "she was hired to make an awesome story" when her stories suck and she has a massive Jewish ego.

In 2011, I asked a question about piracy to one of the developers of "The Darkness II". Because during his presentation he always yelled about PC piracy and that being the problem, when he refused to mention console piracy. He worked for Digital Extremes, one of the heads. I mentioned it and he blew me off and tried to embarrass infront of the crowd with some punk kid laughing about it.

Then at one of the food halls I went up to confront him and he just said "oh hey lol I was just kidding man just a joke bye." and blew me off again.

Total fucking asshole with his head up his ass. A lot of game developers are like that. A bunch of dumb ass liberal man children.

I played the shit out of Space Empires 3 when I was a kid. They had Federation-like ships, Klingon-like ships, and a whole host of other factions to play as. I was convinced that it was a Star Trek bootleg game, and I always wondered how amazing the "real" game was if the "knockoff" was so fantastic.

Turns out, I was super wrong, but I would absolutely love to play a legit Star Trek game that was similar to it.

Cultural Marxism, Anon. Communists. The old-school liberals have been taken over. Communists wreck everything, and they want everything to be like them, if not you have to be purged. Like back before WW2, one of the reasons the German people went Nazi was because they actually did something against Communists streetfighters.

Those are just words. They can't explain the near Lovecraftian insanity these people possess. It's like someone out there is going from university to university and giving guest lectures that include overhead projections of pages from the Necronomicon.

DS9 for the Sega Genesis pissed me off something awful. I was looking for something similar to the TNG game. Instead I got the DS9 of the original Prince of Persia or Out of the World. It's a jump-and-grab platformer, and there's a level I could never, ever get past that contained slowly rising water. If you missed even one ledge, you were fucked. The controls were awful, and sometimes you needed three or four tries to get him to stop in just the right place to activate something. Worst $40 I ever spent.
