Looking at the comments, i can't help but wonder whether ruling with an iron fist would have worked out in the long run.

Genociding Earth would definitely lead to more rebellions, but if you don't do it, then you'd still have an organized opposition

If Dukat conquered Earth would he make the women dress up as Bajorans before he introduced them to 'little Skrain'?

They should've added a lot more scenes between Weyoun and Dukat. Maybe also with Kira. Those were one of the best scenes of DS9. I thought the occupation of DS9 for only six episodes was too short - they should have reconquered it in the last episode of season six, with the Romulans. Could have still added that episode between Sisko and Dukat in that cave without that mental illness bullshit. Scrap the episode where Dukat is Jim Jones for that.

To be honest, Dukat was a shit ruler. He was an unnecessarily brutal, narcissistic and megalomaniacal opportunist. If you look at all the successful conquerers and rulers in history, from Augustus to Saladin and Philip II of France to Frederick the Great to Stalin, none of them showed any of those traits. Sure, they were all machiavellian as fuck, but none of them were as extrentic and self-centered as Dukat.

Dukat is more of a Byronic "antivillian", a tragic figure, like Mephistopheles from Faust, although not as powerful: He is the dialectic foil for Sisko and others, the anti-thesis, he is the "part of which that desires evil but creates good, the spirit that always negates" (Faust).

Btw, anybody noticed that Bajoran women are almost always looking hotter than human women, as it was portrayed in the show?

I'm not seeing it, can you demonstrate your point?

Some of his underlings were, like Yezhov, but he himself was not. The total number of people executed under the Stalin era was 250k, with the NKVD under Yezhov going wild. But I admit, he was brutal, but he was never /unnecessarily/ brutal.

>Cardassians occupying their own territory

How can Cardassians occupy Terok Nor?

As for the show yes it really should have been a whole Season or at least half a Season
