TOS = chadhood

TNG = autism

ddd2cd (3) No.21297>>21302 >>21334

Well, TOS is clearly better than TNG but TNG had four more seasons and a higher budget so autists circlejerk about it.

The best way to illustrate this are the movies, because they are an equal playground. TOS movies are great, while every single TNG movie is shit.

First Contact had its moments

One or two, but it completely ruined the Borg, so it can't make up for that.

Come on, it can't compare to the damage that Voyager did to them.

Voyager made things much, much worse, but First Contact paved the way for them.

I like them both, but DS9 is my favourite.

First Contact was merely a continuation of the studio fuckery over the Borg that began with the second half of TNG's run. They stipulated that there should be 1 Borg story per season and - most destructively - that there should be named Borg characters.

It was Hugh that paved the way for the nerfing of the Borg.

Real hipsters watch TAS.

I have to admit, I find TAS charmingly low-fi.

TNG=opportunists that swooped in when it was relatively safe and comfy

I have no problem with Hugh, or the concept of an isolated Borg drone having to deal with a new enviroment, but what was completely retarded was the idea that they could destroy the entire collective with a computer virus. This is not only ripped off from independence day, it's completely fucking stupid that the collective would explode because of a weird diagram.

And then, of course, Descent happened, which was a horrible two-parter.

The idea that Hugh's individuality would somehow fuck up the Borg to a similar degree was even stupider though. Taking individuals and wholly assimilating them is standard procedure for the collective, why should that process stop working just because they're re-assimilating a severed drone? That's retarded. The diagram could at least make a bit of sense on the micro level: one drone, or five, or whatever might get caught in a loop trying to analyze the diagram, but as soon as it became clear these drones were getting shut down by something the collective would just prune itself and isolate them from the rest of the Borg. Then it would analyze the message log of each drone to figure out what happened, fix the bug, and apply the patch to the rest of the collective as they adapt.

Say what you will about the latter TNG movies, but if you're going to tell me TMP wasn't a hipster arthouse bore-fest, and TFF wasn't complete garbage in every possible way, you're insane. FC isn't half as good as the best TOS films, but it's still miles better than the worst.

You're the one faggot who cares about that on this board. You realize that, right?
