So what's the deal with the Orion Syndicate anyway? Seems like they are the antithesis of everything the Federation stands for so it makes sense that it would be more clashes between them but we rarely see anything related to the Syndicate in the franchise.
Theories?
▶ b2b327 (1) No.1979>>1981
The Orions tend to avoid tactical engagements and prefer to lie in the shadows, thus you never really hear of them until you stumble onto a massive slave/drug den in the middle of fucking nowhere. They run on a "you can't contact us but we'll contact you" basis in most cases, unless you piss them off then they won't even contact you except through a hidden bomb on your runabout.

>Theories?
They're powerful in their own sphere of influence outside the Federation but inside their green skin is a dead giveaway as to what they're up to?

True, but I would expect more of undercover Starfleet (like DS9 6x15, 'Honor Among Thieves') since open-warfare like you say wont be that effective against space-gangsters, so even though they are lurking in the shadows they seem to be big and famous enough to be easily found in the backwaters
>>1980
Sure but other species than Orions are associated with the Syndicate, and I am betting that there are a lot of Syndicate influence in the core of the Federation, people want stuff and many things are bound to be forbidden in an 'Utopia'.

Except starfleet has been dragging its feet on doing something about the orions for over 100 years while they dealt with other shit.
By now, the Orion Syndicate has almost certainly infiltrated starfleet's highcommand and uses blackmail and bribes there to insure the fedies won't do anything to effectively interfere with them.
It's kind of like the US and south american drug cartels.

Weirdly the Orion Syndicate is considered part of the Federation apparently. I wouldn't be surprised if the Feds turn a blind eye to them in exchange for "services"

Yeah probably, I guess this is why UFP does the infiltration, because they can't meet them head-on

DS9 features the Orions as being inside Federation space and being traders inside their space.

That doesn't mean they are part of the federation, Bajor probably traded with the federation long before they became a part of it, trading doesn't provide membership

Just checked and it seems the Orions are part of the Federation, but not the Orion Syndicate which is a criminal organization that operates within Federation borders.
Orion Traders are mentioned throughout DS9 and Federation apparently have archalogical sites on Orion in TNG. TOS also infers that Orions are in Federation Space. JewJew Trek actually openly shows they are a member of the Federation.
Shame though that the Orion Syndicate has never been fleshed out though except in EU materials. They are a pretty interesting faction supposedly pulling the strings a lot with the Federation and other powers as well as dominating the Black Market Trade. We only got to see the Syndicate in action a few times in TOS, TAS and DS9.

Still can't find any reference to the Orions being in the UFP, reference?
Yeah I would like to know more about the interaction between the UFP and the Syndicate, any non-canon novels that touch upon that?

The only reference to the Federation and Orions I can find is the Starfleet Battles Universe which while non canon there are chunks considered canon in regards to lore about races and how they interact with one another

Yes, although you left out "comic books" as well. His brother enjoys cock and David made it his you-call-this-a-life?'s ambition to force it into everything he had a hand in.
>pics related: Hector, the Freddie Mercury expy, argues with his "brother," Ulysses, about Hector's hobby of bum-darts. Through flashbacks we're shown that Ulysses was raped in the orphanage he grew up in by some older kids, and thus his "problematic" behavior is explained. Because in Peter David's world, that's the only possible excuse for being weirded out by people who have to scrub shit out of their foreskin.

Would wager the Dominion would actually be able to give the Borg a bloody nose just through sheer ruthlessness and efficiency. If that is the size of the Dominion they would be one of the few powers in the entire galaxy with true strength to challenge the Borg in an all out warfare scenario, especially considering how fast they can build ships and breed troops.
