>The mirror universe is actually OUR universe

I mean is it really? I never got why people always said this quote when it came to the Terran Empire. I mean yeah we are assholes at times but I honestly doubt we would kill aliens when making 1st contact. This scene always kinda irked me.

No. It's not our timeline you shitter.

The timelines diverged on Earth most noticeably in the 1960s with the nuclear orbital weapons platforms being sent up which is absent from our timeline. We didn't have the Eugenics Wars or WW3, did we? The intro do the Mirror episodes is just as stupid as the regular intro to Enterprise, albeit in different ways. Also the Terran Empire might be a continuation of Rome so who knows. It's not our timeline and even a brief knowledge of Star Trek would make you aware of that.

this faggot gets it. the "regular" Star Trek timeline isn't "who we are", either. Star Trek was intended to soothe the anxieties of whites who expected to inherit the future and to have it on their terms even after the worst possible near-term catastrophes (WW3). It all works-out in the end thanks to the power of the white man's good intentions and moral righteousness.

Star Trek Enterprise was the last gasp of this worldview before it became implausible for most viewers and they gave-up and accepted nostalgia reboot escapism laced with a winking tongue-in-cheek irreverence. The scene you posted is just narrative short-hand explaining the episode's setup to people already versed in and accepting of the initial premise of star trek. It's not supposed to make sense in a broader perspective.

One of the few times the UN got it's shit together. That would have been a fucking disaster, I first heard about this when reading about 2001's original script. I can't believe they were actually going to launch shit like that into space.

Fun Fact: the Russians did have a space station with a gun mounted on it though.
