Are Ferengi a parody of Anarcho-Capitalism?

fbd849 No.1958

Why would anyone need to parody those useless chucklefucks?

They are a dig at capitalism in general not ancaps specifically.

They were a dig at capitalism right up until they showed up on screen. Then (((their))) true colors showed for the audience.

>Anarcho-Capitalism

Well, They have a giant planetary government based on the regulation of capital and commerce, so No.

Not in any way.

9d500e No.2009

ferengi did nothing wrong

their culture is one of peace

federation groundmasters are just slandering them all the time

The more you actually analyze the Federation the more you come to discover they are probably the antagonists of every conflict in the Alpha Quadrant. They provoked the Klingons into a War with reckless expansion towards their territory. They provoked a border skirmish with the Gorn by illegally settling one of their outposts. They colonized worlds inside Cardassian space and wondered why the Cardassians had to annex worlds like Bajor to produce enough raw materials to push the Federation out. They encroached on Talarian territory which forced them to raid Federation space. They illegally settled Sheliak space. Frankly the list goes on.

Shut up, federation Dindu Nuffin! Besides, have you seen how evil the official Star-Fleet Propaganda makes Cardassians look? Have you forgotten how superior you are supposed to feel to a Ferengi who has achieved more than you ever will? He's short and we think his culture is quaint and inferior. We value all cultures, that's why we're better than them!

Unless you count their women.

I'd watch a half-hour (((Ferengi))) sitcom spinoff. Star Trek always trying to be so serious.

>half-hour (((Ferengi))) sitcom

Never happen unless it's animated. That makeup is so time-consuming and expensive that it wouldn't be worth it.

>Unless you count their women.

Who does?

They had to throw something that actually looked bad in the mix. And once you see it play out, it's pretty hard to actually empathize with them. When they fuck up Ferengi culture, you begin to get a sense that maybe there was a reason they weren't allowed to be involved.

>>2050

>half-hour (((Ferengi))) sitcom spinoff

Sitcoms usually have female characters, and Ferengi females are revolting. Maybe some kind of Ferengi Parks and Recreation. I'd watch the hell out of Ferengi Ron Swanson giving everybody else what for, or at least selling what for at a tidy profit.

Man, all this ferengi talk reminded me of a hooker-killer we had in my neck of the woods years ago. When they finally caught up to him, the local press had a field day with what a Trekkie he was. They actually played his answering machine message on air.

>"Rule of Acquisition [whatever]: she can touch your lobes but not your latinum. Leave a message after the tone."

It's funny that I can't remember the year it happened or the guy's name, but I absolutely remember the message. I think I rolled my eyes so hard, they stuck that way for three days.

They tried to make it out like Star Trek is what drove him to kill. Why not? It worked with porn, vidya, Beavis & Butthead, etc. They quickly dropped the angle when they realized that it's better to have autists on the inside pissing out instead of the other way around. Plus even the most casual viewer knew that was bullshit.

They're obviously not libertarians because they have that Grand Nagus guy.

But why? Even if they're not hardcore anarcho-capitalists, it's still really weird that they'd have a leader like that.

Then you've got all the bureaucracy stuff enforcing what you can and cannot do with your private business. WTF!?

How can a race that's supposedly all about the latinum subject itself to all this big government this crap? Surely the push back in defence of muh profits would have knocked that government on it's head long ago.

tl;dr Writers didn't know what the fuck they were doing

Bureaucracy means exploitable regulations that can hurt the competition while you bribe your way out of it. Fits in perfectly well with capitalism.

I see all Star Trek shows as Federation propaganda, similar to the movie version of "Starship Troopers." It makes more sense that way.

Man, I can't even imagine what the bluepilled Trekkies would do to us if they caught us talking like this.

Probably scream at us until we got mad enough to punch them in the larynx

Pushing pro-federation sentiments? Maybe. But describing it as mere propaganda goes too far.

I don't mean to imply that the two are equivalent, but for example even if Ode to joy is pushing "pro-christian sentiments", it's more than propaganda.
