How often do you think he replanted those flowerbeds? He seemed like the grumpiest man in the universe but had every right to be especially considering all he saw day in and out was naive little shits who can't stay off the grass.

Also what would a Swole version of Boothyby be like?

5b31be (1) No.15201>>15202 >>19731

Boothby was a dumbass. Picard talked him up like some genius but then he was just a twat who wanted to talk about flower beds and shit.

Picard just transferred his fraternal feelings for his brother Robert onto another guy who worked with plants and was often adversarial. Picard didn’t want to admit Robert was the one who taught him a lot about life, because they were competitive.

But what does that explain about Janeway? Did he teach her how to commit genoicide?

"Cadet Janeway, nature and life even in these small plot of land, in these gardens life shows us the beauty and strength that grows around us. But only if it is fed blood and death, for nature is red in tooth and claw. Tend the fields, young Janeway. Remember when the fields demands it's toll in blood and salt, to heed the call. Let the fields grow red and soaked with the blood of the sentients and non worthy alike.

Blood, for the blood god, Janeway."

Janeway’s crazy. She probably thought he was an admiral or something.

>Janeway’s crazy.

I watched VOY during it's original airing. And looking back at it. That explanation of the character being legit crazy is increasingly pointing to be the most plausible one.

To be fair to her, if I'd ended up responsible for a somewhat messy, inexperienced, ragtag crew whist stranded in a completely unknown quarter of the universe… I'd probably need a personal day too.

A 24th century federation starship is a luxury liner. They are post-scarcity, have entertainment beyond the best we have, and can fabricate virtually anything. And beyond that you have a holographic doctor monitoring your mental state.

Janeway caused most of her problems and she was erratic as fuck. It’s like the writers all had a different idea what the character would do and Kate Mulgrew didn’t give two shits beyond her getting the most lines and attention, so she was totally inconsistent and thus the best portrayal of a woman in authority ever done.

>A 24th century federation starship is a luxury liner

I wouldn't necessarily use that as an argument for being sane when your crew is in danger every other episode. Sure I could live on a yacht for the rest of my life, but I wouldn't stay sane if my entire crew was inexperienced and I was to busy to even enjoy any of the "luxery" the ship had to offer. There's also the fact that you will never meet new people outside of your crew. Which definitely wares down morale after a while. There's definitely a lot of less obvious problems at work here than you're really giving credit to.

That's why she had a known terrorist take over command once in awhile so she could fuck around on the holodeck and finger bang Seven of Nine.

Janeway spent most of her holodeck time using the Da Vinci program to help develop more instruments of torture for the Voyager brig dungeon.

Watching Voyager is like shoving a pineapple up your ass. You should take it slow because it's only going to get worse.

Voyager is only crap compared to the rest of trek. Compared to most science fiction television, it's still pretty damn good. Everyone here is just spoiled by DS9 and TNG.

>What if boothby was species 8472 all of the time? Even back on Earth?

That would actually make some sense.

>Be part of xenophobic species that exist in a realm that you control

>Have passion for things that grow in a realm where not much else grows

>After being bored forever find a gateway to another part of the universe

>Assume the identity as a gardener and get to experience the simple pleasures of watching your garden flourish

>Unfortunately other life forms take an interest in you and find you as some wise figure when in reality all you want to do is watch your plants grow

>Worse, the next generation of these little shits are sitting on your lillies

>Get so fed up you fuck off back to Fludic Space and demand that your species goes on a crusade to purge those shitstains that sat on your shrubberies from the galaxy

People say this a lot.

I need some examples. When was she crazy?

c69a9c (2) No.19965>>20065

It's less that she was crazy and more that the writers constantly took her in polar opposite directions from one episode to the next, making her look erratic and mentally unstable.
