Scott is hardly leftist. Compared to the typical Democrat, he's practically a reactionary.

Scott dreams of an infinitely egalitarian community of civilized, nice and cooperative peaceful humans made of all of the humans.
Which is more leftist than any Democrat you could name.
He objects to *fighting*, especially from the groups that supposedly align around niceness, community and civilization. He doesn't address -much- the fighting from the group whose main ideology is "muh ingroup fuck yeah, screw everyone we can win fights against" since he takes it as a given that it is self-proclaimedly what he sees as evil.
QED : you are a fucktard.

While that's what he WANTS, the only way he thinks we can get there is by using AI gods to bypass Gnon/Moloch, which is…fanciful.
I think his motivations are quite different from those of typical leftists. He doesn't really have that ressentiment-fueled leveling instinct (though he does have the world-denying instinct, and his moronic version of utilitarianism). His utopian vision at least involves bringing people "up" instead of tearing down anyone who is successful.
In terms of how he sees the world as it is, he's nowhere near the left. e.g. in the recent post against Myers he casually dropped a bit of blatant HBD (Ashkenazi IQ) that's completely incompatible with leftist thought. Similarly on feminism, capitalism, etc.

>He doesn't really have that ressentiment-fueled leveling instinct
I think this is what separates him from most leftists. He doesn't seem to have the hatred of inquality(ies that are not currently favoring him) that is typical in those groups, but rather just wants everyone to be at least at some sort of base level of comfort.

While I am pleased this image has resonated with so many of you, I've noticed you've made the following slight missteps:
First of all, you seemed to have used a service which introduced a watermark onto the image, which is a blight unto mine eyes.
Second, and least important, you seem to have cropped "slate star codex was a mistake.jpg" to make your image instead of using "scott black.jpg", which might have looked better. This crop job also left a black bar at the bottom of the image.
Third, you have degraded the image quality of your meme by not saving your image in a lossless format (the most appropriate one in this case would likely be lossless jpeg, which you can read about here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lossless_JPEG). This is most easily detectable (on close inspection) by the artefacts it has introduced around the text in your image. This is likely a result of the service you used.
All in all, it was a good meme, but I know you can do even better!
In accordance with your expressed wishes I have saged this thread.

I wrote
>the most appropriate one in this case would likely be lossless jpeg
but it turns out that it's tricky to generate lossless jpegs, and all the tools I've been using are incapable of doing so, even as they told me they were. So png is probably for the best, because you know that you're getting real losslessness.

Honestly, I think you omitted the most important flaw of the image, which is that the top text is so large it completely obscures his face. This usually happens when people use automatic generators instead of just taking 30 seconds to do it in GIMP
