Noobfag alert! Not sure if this is allowed/acceptable conduct. Oh well.

Q:

Think FORBIDDEN CITY.

POTUS never crossed the line (ground).

DIdn't see anyone else take this angle:

Forbidden City: One can't enter the city without formal permission being granted / meeting therein are secret and private.

Never crossed line: Primary Line? The Primary Line is a point in an airport concourse / "transit area" where one OFFICIALLY enters a country - before this point (between the plane and the Immigration desk) one is in the equivalent of "international waters". This is how Snowden lived in a Moscow airport for a year without being under Russian jurisdiction. It's also how you can purchase goods "duty free" - you're not legally in the country.

Ships (including planes) are like embassies -

sovereign territory of the country to which they are registered. They have protocols around this. For example (going by memory):

When a head of state [HOS] (like a President) is to board a vessel, the captain walks to the bottom of the gangway, requests permission to enter the territory, when granted steps foot on land, then INVITES the HOS on board - the ship legally starts at the deck's rail - for a HOS to cross the rail without invitation would be a type of invasion;

When anyone else (like a Prime Minister) is to board, they walk up the gangway and request permission to board from the Captain as "ambassador" for his country.

If Trump didn't "cross the line" on the "ground", then there would be no need for any formal arrangements, invitations, or permissions. A secret / private meeting could be conducted in "international waters".

Trump definitely did not go into NK. RU out your mind? That would be a concession.

Not NK.

China.

Forbidden City is in China.

I've been thinking along this line as well and I've considered a couple of similar possibilities.

Either the FC visit was a cover for POTUS to travel to the NK border for a meeting or the FC has some sort of Embassy like status that we're unaware of that allowed Kim to travel there in advance without "officially" leaving his own territory.

FC is a world heritage site. The palace of a sovereign. The Chinese mind is subtle so there may be any number of things that we've missed.

On November 8, 2017, President of the United States Donald Trump was the first US President to be granted a state dinner in the Forbidden City since the founding of the People's Republic of China.[33]

>POTUS never crossed the line (ground).

That is the key point. TRUMP did not cross a line / a border. I assume Kim did not cross one either.

Could be the NK DMZ: "Within the DMZ is a meeting point between the two nations in the small Joint Security Area near the western end of the zone, where negotiations take place.' [Wikipedia]

There is no circumstance on God's green earth in which I can imagine either Kim or Trump meeting on foreign territory with a hostile head of state of a country with which they are at war and have been at war with for 60+ years. And, for Trump, meeting with a communist dictator in another communist country without formal diplomatic negotiations / congressional approval. He would be crucified and, I'm not expert in International Law or US Law, but I suspect something like that would be treasonous. If he wanted impeachment, that would be a fast-track to it.

Kim was not at the Forbidden City IMO - can't see how that would be legal or politically tolerable. Much more likely is Trump's people spoke to Kim's people, and one day, while Trump was stretching his legs and doing a little duty-free shopping at some airport during a routine stop, can you believe it: "Kim Jong-un, what a coincidence! Fancy meeting you here. I was just thinking of you. Psychic? I don't know. While we're browsing for bargains, lets have a chat about the CIA and those missiles you keep threatening the US with. Nothing formal, just a casual conversation".

That or POTUS sneaked off to the NK border while in China or… South Korea:

""Trump's attempt at surprise visit to Korean demilitarized zone is foiled by weather"" [Washington Compost, 7 Nov 2017]

Trump's attempt to make a surprise visit to the Korean demilitarized zone ahead of a speech to the South Korean National Assembly was foiled by bad weather — apparently the moderately thick haze that has covered the sky here this week. Secret Service agents made the call minutes after Marine One had taken off, forcing Trump to return to Seoul and abort the 30-mile flight north…

""The DMZ visit was not announced publicly."" The traveling press pool that accompanies Trump was summoned earlier than expected. Sanders met the group with a sign on which the letters “DMZ” were written and told them "that is how she was instructed to inform them of the trip." She explained that the reporters were not permitted to make details public until after the president had visited the DMZ and returned to Seoul, presumably because of security concerns.

According to a pool reporter, the group boarded Chinook helicopters along with a half-dozen men in camouflage-patterned tactical gear. The helicopters traveled about 18 minutes before turning around. Trump does have a motorcade available in Seoul, but making the trip by ground would have taken longer and foiled the element of surprise; it also would have been difficult to shut down and secure crowded Seoul streets at a moment's notice.

Trump had to "turn back" while the media where all stranded-like in a helicopter in mid-air, and with that terrible haze, they wouldn't have been able to see much anyway. What a coincidence!

bab051 No.688027

I think you've probably got it correct. While the press was stranded, they had a quick sit down. The deal would have been mostly done beforehand but real men seal a deal face to face with a handshake.

I was just speculating on the FC angle as it could have been a place in which the security of both could have been guaranteed by a third party.

The Chinese would have gained a lot of face by hosting such an important secret meeting. Either way it happened, it's pretty fucking masterful.
