In the case of an aggressor, I am acting on the behalf of the state, and lethal force is sometime permitted. I'm in favor of lethal force should it come to that in a moment of snap judgement.

However, once a criminal is apprehended, contained by the state, and no longer a imminent threat, then IMO the threat no longer calls for lethal force, a higher law kicks in. As a Christian, I believe the best of all outcomes is forgiveness, repentance, and reconciliation. I also understand that most wont take that route. And society needs protection from those that don't (or lie about doing so), so, life in prison, without possibility of parole.

Hey Q… Trump kept running his mouth off and now Florida and even the Governor of ARIZONA, one of the most gun friendly places in the nation, are trying to strip people rights against search and seizure. Plus their right to face their accusers.

So Q, since "guns are safe", explain this:

The Governor's proposals center around "protection orders" that call for firearms confiscations and forced mental evaluations based on the feelings of non-professionals that a person may be dangerous. Arizona law already provides a process for court ordered mental health evaluations which can categorize a person as a prohibited firearms possessor. All the Governor is adding is a way to seize firearms from virtually anyone for any reason using hearsay. Or, maybe that was the plan all along?

Missing from the Governor's plan is "hardening" school security. While the Governor has continuous armed protection and the Capitol, where you work, has metal detectors and armed guards, when your constituents' children go to school their protection is limited to a flimsy "no firearms allowed" sign. Isn't the safety of our children as important as yours? Why do you think killers go to school yards instead of police stations and gun stores? They may be crazy, but they're not stupid. Under current policy no one is going to stop them at a school.

A saner policy would be to allow armed law-abiding adults to be present on school grounds. There is no discussion in the Governor's plan of arming staff on a volunteer basis. While a "first responder" is the cop that shows up after a school shooting, there is an "immediate responder" in the classroom looking down the barrel of the bad guy's gun. Arizona's legislative policies have disarmed our school's "immediate responders" by banning their ability to protect themselves and their students.

While the issue of "why" school violence has increased over the decades is complex and has no simple answer, there is an immediate and inexpensive solution that can reduce the possibility of school violence in Arizona - end "gun free school zones."
