CARBONDALE, Ill. (WAND) – An Illinois man known for his work with vaccines has died.

Southern Illinois University says Dr. William Halford passed away this week. He had spent years creating a vaccine for the herpes simplex virus (HSV-2), after the issue caught his interest in the early 2000s.
