Of note, the Great Seal was added to US currency for the first time in 1935, not long after FDR screwed the country over with the New Deal.

While the Great Seal was created in 1782, I find it interesting that FDR decided it would be important to include the seal which states "NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM" meaning "New Order of the Ages". The original design called for the Great Seal's coat of arm (obverse) to be on the left of the bill and the pyramid(reverse) to be on the right. FDR did not care for this presentation and decided that the seal's reserve (pyramid) should be move to the more prominent left side of the bill. This effectively put the emphasis on the "New Order" instead of America. Take what you will from this.
