Heroin should never be legalized. Heroin causes the user to become a worthless member of society, unable to contribute, work, and pay taxes. This makes Heroin users parasitic to a country. We need less parasites.
People who do heroin should not go to jail, but to a facility.
People who sell heroin should go to Jail.
The state should operate all Jail systems. Jails do not fit in with capitalist competition ideals, you don't get a choice in your jail.
The only drug that should be for legalization consideration is Marijuana. It is not quite as dangerous to the human body, however smoking In general causes health issues. It should be noted that Marijuana is a very powerful habit forming drug, and it is undoubtedly a gateway drug.
I would have never tried Xanax, Coke, Crack, Meth, Adderall, Lsd, Shrooms, among other things, if I hadn't become a pothead in college. I still smoke to this day, yet fortunately I never got hooked on anything as dumb as the things listed above.
The only real debate that should even be made here, "If Marijuana were legalized, would it Still be a Gateway Drug?"
How do you buy Weed? Dealer? What else does he sell? Easy Access?
Do we relate Weed in our brains with big drugs because of external input from TV? Do we relate Weed with drugs because we call Legal intoxiations Drunkeness, and we call illegal Intoxications being "High"?
If we wanted to actually stop the opiate trade, What would work better than most ideas, would be to put a literal wall between us and Mexico, and Us and Canada. That's not the end all to drug trafficking, but it's a huge first step.
We could also stop popularizing the drug and people who use it. Popular rock music from the 90s looked like it was all about heroin.
So let's stop trying to use drugs and legalize in the same sentence here. Weed is the only one up for debate.
