Just make sure if they ask you to fix existing webshit you run a million miles in the other direction, anon. It's mindblowing how badly normies manage to fuck up software that normally just werks

I program naked but that's because I'm always naked in the house.

Research student programmer reporting.

Feels good to get paid for the thesis.

Shit hits the fan occasionally and the wage is slave level but it's alright.

Walked that route, won't even touch webdev with a stick now.

Get outcheaped by diarhea quickshit coders everytime I offer a solution on freelancer.

Also fuck their contests.

How much do you guys normally make from this and do you need a college degree to be taken seriously on these freelancing sites? I have no experience with freelancing, but it would be nice to make money without first shelling out thousands of dollars to hear things that I either already know or could learn for free and get some shitty piece of paper.

To be frank for a second, I did score some jobs on this site.

Best thing happened was a simple CSS/HTML job for a landing page, with photoshop mockup provided. Made me 80 bucks, but only because I did it in 3 hours before even making an offer and presenting the finished product beforehand.

There will also be smug motherfuckers who will ask you for a demo beforehand tough, don't fall for that obviously.

Thing is either high risk mediocre reward or sheer dumb luck for anyone who's not willing to sell out short or isn't involved in a bigger company.

My experience tells me that you got to make it cheap, quick and near perfect to have a footing in any of those sites. Once you gain traction by having built a good enough portfolio on one of those sites, it might get better in terms of pay and successfully securing a job.

I'd say check it out yourself,

Also again don't fall for those stupid graphic design contests. Not worth it. pic related, always outpopped

I fell for this same shit myself. I put myself through hell on sites like 99designs, and submitted a shit-load of decent designs. I am not a wwwizard by any leap, but I do an alright job.

I was never picked or paid once. Often times, someones 3rd grade design will "out pop" yours, and you just wasted 2 hours on a design. That, or they will just steal your design.

I've considered looking into doing stuff for freelance stuff, and have a decent level of experience, but I don't know if I'm cut out, how to do anything for other people, or what the rates of trustability are (whether or not the customers generally suck or are pretty okay giving millions of moneys)

What kinds of simple projects were you often doing? Any notable level of people who gave more headaches to work with than worth?
