It was cheap to have nearly every character have the same body. Season One was done on a shoestring budget. Go watch "Show Stoppers" some time. I've seen better flash films on Newgrounds.

Dubs are dead on: Hasbro is a toy company. There are toy franchises with much less excuse than MLP which use the same basic body type for all characters for this reason.

They wanted to make each pony have different body types, but I dont remember anything related on being a midget, they didnt do it, because if would be to expensive and time consuming, so they just gave everyone the same body type.
