But supply chains are EXTREMELY efficient which in this case isn't a good thing so any hard systemic shock will become pretty obvious in a couple of weeks or so as current on-hand inventories start depleting. But just to look at this another way, our system may be built with a strong reliance on china and all that but it also is full of people who will react and find solutions, often times creative ones. I'm not saying a lot of people aren't going to suffer…they will….but there's a silver lining.

Companies whose supply chains did not depend on China are going to make bank. Quality goods that don't rely on planned obselecence will show their true value. This may be a return to a more sane practice of buying and using reliable products…. Which is essentially what "American made" used to mean, as well as various European made products.

If Corona doesn't kill a lot of people there will be massive food shortages and death, but people who were hoarding or prepping or homesteading will generally do quite well (assuming they survive the plague or the plague isn't a big issue).

It's a sudden shock to the system, but a righteous one that will separate the chaff from the wheat. In all honesty, our society was suffocating from these useless people and irresponsible corporate practices and our future survival and prosperity depends on fixing that.

It's possible the current system will be able to weather this and return to business as usual, which would be a shame, but there's a real possibility that we see a return to the natural order of things

..which, for those who survive, means a more robust system with greater resiliance and an evolutionary pressure that rewards good work instead of cutting corners and deception.

All in all, I think you're right about the consequences we are facing…and I can't help but see a big rainbow at the end of this coming storm.

Unfortunately for the individual, if this is really the case then the whirlwind of shit that is coming is likely to have a lot of collateral damage and even good people who would do well in the new system may perish in the transition.
