They are called logical fallacies and avoiding them is the core of rational debate. Appeal to authority is the pet favorite tactic of fedoras everywhere. One should absolutely temper their worldview based on empirical evidence while being aware that manipulation and biased consensus has rotted away the base of the ivory tower of science.
>Back when I was your age I thought that porn was great, and I figured the church my parents dragged me to every Sunday was just ignorant. Don't make the same mistake I did and fap away your teenage years.
You must be a real oldfag then since I'm 35. Also your reading comprehension is pretty shit, my argument above was stating that you shouldn't take the fact there is not a large pool of data refuting the benefits of masturbation as causal proof that /nofap/ is bullshit. The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence. You must have me confused with another poster ITT, this is my first post here (and why I'm an advocate of IDs within threads). I have seen plenty of empirical evidence for /nofap/ and have experienced the benefits myself.
>inb4 what are you doing here on /nofap/ at 35
I am actually going a divorce right now after being together with my wife for 17 years and being married for 10. Let's just say I thought the rules of the game didn't apply to someone who was in reasonably good shape, attentive, supportive, and provided well for his family. I was proven wrong. I've taken a look at the landscape out there and am generally not interested in what I see. I don't have any desire to have casual sex or "settle down" with cock carouseled girls. Not to say I'm going MGTOW as I always will keep the hope of finding a quality woman but I'd rather live in monk mode doing what I want then participate in what I see as the degradation of society.
