 No.253031

Virginia’s Senate Judiciary Committee has rejected a bill that would have banned the future sale of guns considered to be assault weapons.

The committee voted 10-5 on Monday to continue HB961 to the 2021 legislative session, drawing applause from gun rights supporters in attendance. The bill, backed by Democratic Governor Ralph Northam, had already passed the House of Delegates 51-48.

Moderate Democrats John Edwards (Roanoke), Creigh Deeds (Charlottesville), Scott Surovell (Fairfax) and Chap Petersen (Fairfax) voted with Republicans on the committee.

Along with the motion to push the bill to next year, senators requested that the bill be studied by the state’s crime commission.

The legislation would have prohibited the future sale of certain semiautomatic firearms in Virginia, including popular AR-15 style rifles, and ban the possession of magazines that hold more than 12 rounds.

Advocates of the bill have said it would save lives, but Republicans joined with some moderate Democrats saying they needed more time before decisions were made.

Leftists/Globalists/Democrats STILL WON. They passed:

1. Outlaw private firearms sales

2. RED FLAG LAW

3. One gun per month limit for purchase

We won't obey their gun ban laws anyway. They can take their laws and SHOVE EM!

>Outlaw private firearms sales

The black market will only expand then, so will homemade 'ghost' guns.

>RED FLAG LAW

Which isn't even enforced in most rural areas in America according to LE statistics.

>One gun per month limit for purchase

Too late, gun owners are not stupid. Notice the massive increase of gun purchases the last few months in VA alone? Anyone who follows this already knows to stockup on everything they can get while they still can.

Everything they try to do will always be met with tons of resistance and disobedience as it should be.

worth mentioning that that one gun a month thing doesn't apply if you have a carry permit

Typical Boomer logic,"They didn't take MY GUNS so we won! My kids? Who gives a shit about them, they'll just have to pull themselves up from the mire I threw them in by their bootstraps just like I did."

Also, they didn't get rid of the bill, they pushed it to next year. You'll forget it even exists, it'll pass, then you'll blame it on the millenials.

Hell, your list of excuses is already half-done! Also, really digging this guy >>253135

Who probably showed up to the rally and stood in the designated holding area like a lamb to the slaughter.

Love how first it was that folks were going to stop it through force, then they said they'd fight them in the courts, now it is praying they don't enforce the law. Looks like VA was the right place to roll these laws out, not like the residents have the spine to fight back.

I'm out of the loop and some basic quick searching isn't revealing much to me, can anyone tell me about this?

We know you got nothing to lose, but some of us do.

All transfers (save inheritances, estates, time-of-need, buybacks, anything else they choose) require a background check. If you can't do a background check, say because you're a regular person who can't afford to retain a background investigatory service, you can't legally transfer the firearm. They are going to implement a process for folks to get FFLs to provide a background check but I can't imagine that shit being established in a timely manner or for free. The gun stores must be laughing all the way to the bank, this bill makes it pretty hard to sell a firearm other than through consignment.

I must admit, I am disarmed by the pride you hold in your naked cowardice and selfishness. "But I could lose my stuff!", lord have mercy on the souls of our forefathers.
