A deranged man caused a mass-shooting panic at a Manhattan movie screening Sunday night when he burst into the theater and began yelling about guns, sources said.
Anthony Powell, 34, of the Bronx, entered a theater in the Regal Union Square Movie Stadium around 11:30 p.m. and began shouting, “They are killing us,” according to law enforcement sources.
Powell also screamed that “people with guns were killing people in the theater,” causing panic among patrons, a source said.
One moviegoer jumped from a low balcony and injured himself in an attempt to escape.
Powell then grabbed the injured man by the throat and yelled, “I got the Jew!,” according to the sources.
