I read all the time I read everyday, I read books like junk food, I read in the shower. Once my brother posted a picture of my book in the shower and made everyone laugh at me for being a weirdo, smh. I also remember telling my english teacher when I was a young teen that I read in the bath, and she said she did too, but all my classmates laughed at me and thought I was a loser for this.

Well it's not that simple, some people do it to get closer to a country, its culture, and its history. But in general yeah.
Thing is though, you can understand some languages that are close to one you speak, but this is very different from having the ability to speak it. Interlingua seems to be good for the former but not the latter. So maybe you could understand a good deal of basic Spanish, Italian, etc. but you wouldn't be able to communicate effectively with those people unless you spoke their respective langauges. Interlingau may make that easier but then you're just adding another language for no reason imo, the Romance languages are similar enough that you ought to pick them up easily enough after learning one without the aid of a constructed language that essentially tries to replace Latin. So if you must do this, you may as well learn Latin since it's more useful.

I understand it if you've met numerous times and really feel a connection to her tbh. Not being able to be with someone because of purely practical and logistical reasons is shit.
I wouldn't encourage LDRs unless you can eventually get together at some point and you both really love each other as opposed to just having a crush. with stuff like esperanto i agree that its not useful to non speakers, but interlingua was designed so that multiple languages could understand whats being said in it. the whole point is that you could have admittedly basic convos with any of the nationalities. it does away with a lot of the language specific grammar, which makes it easy af to speak.
