The Weeknd used to be notable for combining at the time obscure electro with RnB and hip hop. He eventually just became RnB though and for good reason since by now electro is dead and for the most part replaced by Soundcloud Rap and other Soundcloud genres which pretty much degenerated the whole music industry.

Yeah I used to think I hated metal until I discovered it was more than 80's trash. Listening to Metallica is like walking into some exotic, expensive ice cream parlor and getting a plain scoop of vanilla in a plastic cup. It's just about the bare bones of what you could call "metal" with absolutely no frills or uniqueness. Their older albums have a guitar tone that sounds like they were played through coffee can lids, I have no idea how anyone could head bang to it.

I've never understood why Death gets hailed as the greatest death metal band of all time. I could never get into the prog albums; they sounded like very halfassed, boring reddit wankercore. SBG and Leprosy were OK, but nothing Sentenced, early Pestilence or any other death metal band from that era weren't doing (with more creativity to boot). Slayer's only good recordings are Show No Mercy through Hell Awaits. After that, you don't need to dig further into their discog, it's just worthless memeshit

Not catanon, but Metallica to zoomer/millennial metal ears is like listening to AC/DC; it's a very lukewarm, vanilla and overplayed experience and it's understandable why many younger metal listeners would be turned off by it after hearing Enter Sandman umpteen times on the radio as a kid. That said, I will admit that I fell victim to this kind of thinking and up until recently, rejected listening to a lot of classic albums in the metal genre for fear of encountering this overplayed, outdated audiable boomer noise. But the truth is, if you want to really get into a genre, the classics are classic for a reason, and not getting that initial grounding in the genre's roots is what leads many young metal listeners to think that ALL 80s and 90s metal with the exception of some "underrated classics" IE albums that were either complete shite or following in the shadows of greater giants, are vanilla trash to left behind as we listen to Meshuggah, Deafheaven or some warmed over "heavy" rock band that pilfered Metallica and Motorhead.

I understand. As a teen I never wanted to play old Iron Maiden Queensrÿche records because guitar solos and high-effort vocals sounded so try hard to me. On the other hand, I was more interested in Korn and Wu-Tang at that time, so I guess I was just being wrong. Needless to say that I haven't listened to Korn or Wu-Tang since over 10 years while classic metal is now a daily staple in my house.

Sigur Ros is a band I just cannot get my head around no matter how hard I try. Its recommended to me constantly because I love Björk with a passion but it always disappoints. I get so bored banging my head against the huge orchestral soundwalls they put into their songs. I swear its just ōōōōōōōōōōōōh for 10 minutes straight with the THX test sound in the background interrupted by a xylophone every now and then. Its all just so generic.
No.95518
It's just "grrr I'm really fucking angry aaaaaaaggggghh" and blunt messages for their earlier work then their later stuff are the same blunt messages but sparkled to seem deep, and their reunion stuff is just post-rock. How have they gotten so popular and praised they're no more special than their contemporaries, the only thing that sets them apart is that they never stuck to one style but many other artists aren't restricted by genre so what's the bid deal.

Duuude noooo. How could you listen to this shit and dismiss it like it is. Pantera is one of the more musically interesting bands on the metal scene. They defined their own genre of "groove metal" with their unique sound. Most of the songs have multiple movements, changes of tempo, memorable lyrics, all without following the percussive mold other bands use in their music. The guitar sounds like its being tortured, Phil's vocals are straight venom, just a bad-ass band. Listen to the riffs drag on your skull in 25 Years and try to tell me it doesn't get you pumped.

Excuse me mister, I'll have you know that I happen to be one of those people who swear by her, and its partly because of her unique voice. There is simply no precedent for someone as gifted as her. Its not any technique or skills that she has honed, as I admit there are definitely artists who are more talented at manipulating their voice than her. Its simply the God-given shape of her chords, in-born ability. Her voice has this certain appeal, like ASMR or binaural beats. It doesn't work on everyone, but those that can appreciate it greatly. Embed related for me is indescribably wonderful. It places me in complete tranquility, and I am a very high-strung person.
Now the next part of why I appreciate Björk's music, is her incredible compositional ability. She had her debut in just the right time and place to draw on an enormous amount of musical influences from the European trip-hop, to house, and even the opera scene. Before her solo career she had brief stints in bands like K.U.K.L and The Sugarcubes which had a more generic punk and alternative sound respectively. All these different styles and experiences made her into an incredibly versatile artist, and it shows within her music. She is one to keep the listener on their toes, and engaged with stunning moments of intimacy in her songs. Björk is capable of making these wonderful soundstages that perfectly compliment her voice, like a playground for a dawn sprite, or ball lightning. Its not the type of music you play in the car or at work. You have to sit down and enjoy it.
