How come European and even more so British electronic musik (EDM, IDM or *insert the buzzword of your generation*) is so much better than American eletronic musik?

Notable European / British artists:

>Autechre

>Aphex Twin

>Daft Punk

Notable American artists

>Skrillex

>Dead Mou Five (I know he's Canadian, but did you know that Canada lies on the American continent?)

>Moby

European artists excel in composition, pushing the boundaries and creating a very recognizable artistic footprint. While there American counterparts, well, they just excel in blandness and stripping the musik of any exciting features.

Proof me wrong.

I've noticed this as well, it's probably because during the 60's and 70's Europeans were experimenting a lot more with electronic music while Americans only really starting doing that on a large scale in the 80's.

>inb4 people start spamming me with exceptions like Devo

 No.95251

I won't. Americans never created anything worthwhile.

 No.95252

The thing I hate the most about American eletronic artists is how heavily they rely on samples. Just look at artists like RJD2 or as OP already listed, Moby. Sure, there are Eurofag artists who do the same thing like Fatboy Slim, but they're not as common.

Taking a jazz beat from the 60's and throwing drums over it is the height of laziness.

It's like asking why European grunge music wasn't as good as in the US. It was mainly a US thing like electronica was mainly European.

Exactly. Europeans for the most part invented electronic music. It's like asking why there is no good Euro jazz

 No.95262

Amerishit electronica is basically detroit or chicago house, hip-hop beats, miami bass, freestyle such as howie b, new orleans bounce or baltimore club music. basically melanic dilettants playing with electronic devices.

He was born there, sure, but he's ethnically Welsh and grew up in Cornwall.

Because it was more popular over there for a longer time. You forget grunge happened
