Final Cut was unironically far better than most give it credit for, if Roger cut down on the "Pink's father died in the war just like mine oh woe is m- I mean Pink" and had some longer more guitar-based tracks like Your Possible Pasts or Not Now John, it would've been a worthwhile successor to The Wall.

This aspect gets so exaggerated by everyone. The album is about how war affects people, why isn't he allowed to mention it? You don't even have to see the instances of "daddy died" as about him personally; Rodgers obviously wasn't the only one who lost his father in WWII. He was speaking for those in his generation who felt that sacrifice was being shat on.
