Normalfags do. Just because you don't know anyone doesn't mean they aren't popular enough that they fuck over the little guy. Also I think I read somewhere they have algorithms that make playlists for any given subgenre and since the most popular bands are going to be listened to the most, even in niche subgenres you can't find new artists without putting effort into finding them. And on top of everything, you have to pay Spotify in order to put your music on there, meaning a band starting out with no money can't afford it (like needing work experience in order to get a job that will give you work experience).
