I was going to make a thread about this, but for me it's pic related. I've listened to some gloomy-ass stuff. Fields of the Nephilim. Heard of those guys? No? Then you haven't been listening to gloomy albums. That's probably one of my favourite bands. The music is gloomy, very well played as well as the lyrics, production etc, but I'd have to pick The Wall. I was raised with Nick Cave and Leftfield as a child. Despite the Floyd being routinely categorised as 'Dad Rock', with their simple drumming, baselines, bluesy guitar licks and stick it to the man lyrics, they're gloomy because they're true. Too true. Dad left, Mom overprotective, been in a band that switched styles, became fascist. The works.
